Maxx, ignore Salsa, he's ignorant, upset about it, and takes it out on others. Your history provided here, is correct and an appropriate representation. I will say you made one mistake in all of this though: the phrase is "all intents and purposes", not "intensive purposes". ;) That said...

I hate to be one to be given an inch and take a mile, but I asked for 360 BC before it happened, OG BC before it happened, and yes, of course I'm asking for DC BC (before it happens). (Hell, how about a USB card reader for MSX and MSX2 ala the new Sinclair? ;) ) It's not that GD-ROMs weren't good security, it's just that Sega failed in their due diligence to ensure the authentication worked on the original DC hardware. A DC revision was released which properly authenticated the game disks, and it's possible that Xbox's BD drives could read the DC authentication track.

    Bring it all home, Microsoft.

This is a glitch, contact support and they'll help you fix it so you can play 360 games.

You can stream to the Xbox app on a Windows 10 PC. Intel made a couple HDMI stick PCs that run Win10 you might look into. I think the cheapest was $100 though.

Oh my poor PlayStation TV, which definitely does exist and looks ugly with it's 540p games output at 720p native resolution on my 1080p monitor. Maybe you should refrain from speaking about things of which you are ignorant, Salsa, because a simple Google search would correct you. PSTV is a screenless Vita with HDMI out which can play PlayStation (Vita) games and which can stream PS3 and PS4 games, as well as PS Vue content.

Xbox One X super samples 4k games on 2k screens. It also has FreeSync 2.0 support, enabling every game to play at it's highest frame rate.

Some games will still be locked to 30|60fps, and we will have to appeal to those developers specifically.

lol, I like that you're trying to get rid of an ad, but that won't happen. At best they might add a box warning of a given service issue only when that issue arises and only for users following the game with the issue. That would be nice.

If you really think I took the time to go back, start a new thread, copy and paste the title and body, and click post again either on accident or on purpose, and that that is more likely than my router or the server accidentally doubling it - when every discussion system on the internet experiences this glitch - good for you, I admire your ability to ignore logic and refute Occam's Razor. You should enter politics.

    MonkataMonkata commented  ·

    1. No I didn't, it was duplicated by the system.
    2. Why are you posting twice to complain about a simple repost? You're doing the thing you complained about.

If the OG Xbox were unable to receive updates, it would never have gotten the dashboard update it did get, which enabled it to connect to XBL in the first place.

USB ports have nothing to do with it. Dashboard updates come via XBL as well as on disk. It would be a simple matter to launch a server on the Azure network with the address of XBLv1, and any OG Xbox with the XBL dash update could connect to it and would know no difference. That server would not need to run XBLv1, just fake enough of it to deliver the update. From there, identifying and copying save data from HDD to cloud is simple.

It would be in MS's interest to allow game save transfers because they can make money off of it. When these games are added to BC, they become available for purchase, even when they have been out of print and not sold digitally. Having to start over from the beginning, rather than carrying on from where you left off is a powerful deterrent to returning to old games. Having a memory card or game save become corrupted has led many players to give up on a game. So hearing that you can start up that 100hr+ RPG right before the final boss fight that you never quite beat is actually reason for some people to buy a brand new Xbox. Even people who have large disk collections are known to buy the digital versions of those games for the convenience. Why didn't they do this back when 360 came out? First, you couldn't use the same GamerTag on your OG Xbox as your 360, you had to transfer it over to the 360 and that was that. That's now a problem which can be fixed - easily.

I cannot fathom your lack of understanding, Salsa, and I would appreciate if you would refrain from calling me or my idea stupid.

I know that, Salsa, that's why I specified the new XBL. That's the point of the dashboard update, to allow the decade and a half old hardware to connect with the current Azure powered XBL.

This has happened with Xbox 360 (it even got external mass storage), so it could be done again for OG Xbox, and it would be an integral part of full support.

These games are running at 30fps because they are allowed to. Xbox One X could run them at 60fps, with a lower level of visual fidelity. Letting it run at half that frame rate gives it twice as long for each frame to make it look (let's say) twice as good. This is the effect of not having any boundaries - the developer chooses exactly what they want, having not been forced to do 4k60 they can choose to make a 1080p30 image instead.

This would be an excellent option for the sort of person who spends $150 on a single controller.
