I don’t think this game is coming, Splinter Cell isn’t a relevant franchise to Ubisoft anymore & if they did put it on it would take attention away from their other games that are still making money e.g Assassins Creed, Far Cry etc.
I can’t wait for Ubisoft to pull the plug on servers for spies vs mercs (because you know they will) IF they ever bring this game to the Xbox One, but since there hasen’t been any sign of that happening we’re safe.
I’ve given up on this game appearing on bc & there’s a few theories to as why:
1. They’ve put out all Assassin’s Creed games (the original is getting XB1X enhancements as well) & none of their other Tom Clancy games because AC is their flagship series & don’t want attention brought to a much better series like Splinter Cell.
2. Blacklist didn’t sell high enough to their expectations & don’t see any monetary gain from bringing any of their older TC titles to BC.
3. They’re planning on making a remaster (likely leaving out DA because they think it is inferior to Conviction & Blacklist) so they can resell it in an attempt to make more money they might not have made with the original release & if they are supremely greedy they will make you buy all the DLC again, Modern Warfare Remaster style.
You can call me wrong but it has been 2 years since the backwards compatibility program was made & Rainbow Six Vegas & it’s sequel are the only Tom Clancy games to have made it.
The last real Splinter Cell game released.
Why not just wait until the next Infinity Ward developed game which will come with MW2 remastered as a pre-order bonus, which they will then release as a stand alone months later, because backwards compatibility for this title is not going to happen no matter how much votes this gets.
Microsoft state that they can’t make a game backwards compatible unless the owner, in this case the publisher, gives them permission to re-sell a game on the Xbox One.
You all should know that Miscrosoft needs publishers permission to allow these to become backwards compatible, begging here doesn’t help it being brought to the Xbox One.
22.7 million sold altogether
25 million unique players
$550 million in revenue worldwide 5 days after release
$1 billion in sales by January 18th 2010
Realistically there is no way MW2 will not be remastered to the same amount of hype this game had back in its heyday, time for all of you to just give up all hope of this ever appearing as a backwards compatible title.
Voting a game for backwards compatibility dosen’t garuntee that it will make it to bc, it’s the publishers say if it is to be made. On the other hand I it does show that there is demand for a game to be brought to the Xbox One.
Just wait until it’s Infinity Ward’s turn to make the next yearly instalment & Activision announces that Modern Warfare 2 will be remastered plus everything you hate about modern gaming (loot boxes, micro transactions etc.)
There is a reason most high voted 360 games do not make it to bc program because companies will see that there is a high demand for old games but will opt to create a next gen remaster so that they can resell it full retail price & if they are greedy enough they will make you buy all the dlc as well (It's Activision, so don't be surprised when it does inevitably happen).
Publishers know perfectly well that players will either just buy a used copy of said voted game or that you already have the game & all its DLC, no better time than the present to introduce a new generation of gamers who haven't played these old games & potentially make mad profits from one of the most highest selling CoD game in the series.
Do you really think that Activision of all publishers will let this game be backwards compatible when the first modern warfare was remastered. The games sold so well the first time, don't pretend that they won't make a full priced remaster will all the dlc sold seperetaly.
You might as well just get the remastered edition because no matter how votes this gets it is not going to happen.
The Call of Duty series should be closed off from voting, Activision are not going to bring these games onto the Xbox oneunless it gets remastered (which it will).
Sure they let Ghosts & Advanced Warfare be backwards compatible recently for some reason, but look at the sales between these games & the Modern Warfare trilogy, they're going to make so much more money just rereleasing it as a full priced remaster & the dlc not coming with it for free.
If the HD collection became backwards compatible it would take attention & money away from Metal Gear Survive & Konami knows this, so don’t expect it coming any time soon (or at all) in 2018
No Konami property is be going to be brought to the xbox one, they've left the games industry to pursue the panchiko market & they'll take all of their ip's along with them, it's already being done to MGS & Silent Hill.
Don’t see any reason to get the 360 version & then buy all the dlc individually which will cost more than what the Xbox One version is now (which will likely be quite cheap)
Why not just get the Definitive Edition which has all the dlc & especially at this point the price will have gone down, there are so many highest voted games that already have remastered editions on the Xbox One or one that are simply never going to be backwards compatible i.e the Modern Warfare Trilogy.
If they are going to put a F.E.A.R game on, I graruentee they will put F-three-ar on first to spite all of us & might be the only one they will put on.
This game ran horribly on the 360 (frame rate was all over the place, the game was too choppy), if this was backwards compatible could it potentially run at a more stable frame rate on the Xbox one?
This is the best Far Cry out of all the games in the series & Ubisoft knows that, thus they are never going to make this backwards compatible.
I usually can’t stand seeing games already on the Xbox One voted to be backwards compatible, but ironically this games ran better on the X360 version.
Better yet you should beg Konami for the og Xbox version of Silent Hill 2&4 to be backwards compatible.
Face it, 2 & a half years later most Ubisoft titles that aren’t named Assassin’s Creed haven’t & might never be backwards compatible, it’s time to let it go.
If the 360 Ghost Recon games didn't receive a bonus download with Wildlands, I don't think any Tom Clancy games will be making their way onto the Xbox One, maybe Vegas 1&2 didn't sell much more copies & thus have no financial gain from letting anymore on.
Wildlands isn’t even a Ghost Recon game it is a Division reskin in a desert, there is no way Ubisoft will allow the older Ghost Recon games (even the ones on OG Xbox) to be played backwards compatibility program as it will show everyone to of how an actual GR is supposed to be.
Ubisoft let Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 be backwards compatible, why not Ghost Recon?
Not going to happen, the game got pulled from digital storefronts some time ago & it doesn’t seem like Activision who owns the rights to Wolfenstein has any interest in bringing it back.
Found this article from 2015 showing that Ubisoft was going to support backwards compatibility.
The only Tom Clancy games that were supported were Rainbow Six Vegas & its sequel, they were also given as a download bonus with RS: Seige, but two years in, a new Ghost Recon has been released & it's previous titles didn't receive the same treatment, same for the Splinter Cell series.
Something tells me Vegas didn't make more money becoming backwards compatible & Ubisoft don't want attention taken away from their new games.
This probably will arrive when Crackdown 3 is relaeased as a bonus download.
Look up what happened to the dev Silicon Knights, they had a lawsuit with Epic Games, lost it & all their games & their DLC have now been removed from the xbox live marketplace & all unsold copies of their games were to be destroyed.
I don't think this game or anything else they made will be making an appearance on backwards compatibility.
This game really should be downloadable if it is made backwards compatible. The bonus disc of Quake 4 is so hard to find & possibly expensive.
