How to stop spam? Users with 0 Gamerscore are not allowed to send messages on Xbox One

Lately Xbox users receiveing too many SPAM, like "WIN iPad, iPhone, Xbox, etc.. go to this URL to win blaah blaah".

This is kind of annoying now. Because you can REPORT about these spammers, and block them. But next week they make new user and start spamming again. It's almost impossible to block them, but Microsoft can make these spammers life harder.

One very simple solution how to do that is adding new rule, that everyone who have gamerscore 0 or less than 500 can not send messages. And with gamerscore less than 1000 they can not add links/URLS in messages. It will make these spammers life a little bit harder, and our life is easier.

Thank You!

This would get rid of those s3x bots. I've never encountered them on Xbox but I've heard they're annoying and scamming little kids.

I know I'll probably get flak for this, but banning an account is not difficult at all. I get the spam bots too, just do the deed, and swing the ban hammer!

Accidentally flagged this using the small screen on my phone and I can't unflag it. I agree, there needs to be a way to stop spamming, but I don't believe gamerscore is the way, as it only reflects "challenges" in a game. There are many games that reward very small amounts of GS for completing the game, and you REALLY have to work to get the rest. There are obvious reasons this wouldn't work, which is why it'll never be implemented. But yes, spamming needs to stop. So does the BS trending fake gamer girls that spam Llike4like and that's all you see. This is a gaming community, not Instagram/Twitter. Games are getting very annoyed with this. We should be seeing some sick game play in the trending and important game announcements, not this dribble.

The solution to this problem is for Microsoft (Xbox) to get off their *** and implement a friends request system like they had on Xbox 360. We the people for whom spend our hard earned cash on your products have been asking for since 2014. It's not rocket science. So anyone reading these posts for things like this please post a message on the Friends Request post as well. Of course most likely it'll be pointless as we all know most will continue to buy their products and Microsort knows it. Hence there being no updates that we the people who pay their bills actually want or have asked for for years now.

This is a pretty good idea. Recently the bot accounts have been getting really out of hand. I had to block like 3 in one week

This is out of hand. I pay for gold access. To be recieving this spam, and the ghost Instagram girls liking all my content is unacceptable. Microsoft needs to be enforcing this. I won't even allow my son near my Xbox because of the PORN SITES that these spammers send.

Well that's a violation of Xbox user agreement...and usually gets you a console ban. what else can they do?

  • RitzyBiscuit7 commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

well... at least have it be less than 70G points you have it where you must be a friend of someone before they send you messages. Although if they only have one game and it's like FIFA 15 UT. then that kind of sucks if that was a rule

I agree with this. I am not a really big gamer and my GS is like 9600 however the spam is really annoying. I barely send messages anyway.

Anything to reduce or eliminate this type of unsolicited communications would be a great improvement.
