Play Music From Apps Without Snap (Background Music)
[Mod Edit: The original title, "Xbox Music" has been updated to better reflect the idea that Audio from a snapped app should be able to continue playing even after the app has been unsapped ]
Allow us to unsnap Xbox Music and music to continually play in the background. It is cumbersome to want to play a game at full screen and having to deal with the snapped version of Xbox Music on the right side.
[Mod Edit: This idea was merged with similar ideas posted by Hibiscus Wolf, JC and JC, iLeeMurr, ThankOurTroops, jon abruzi, howster34, lt smooth420, Jedi dojomaster, Alexandre7Jr, NEW M0N3Y, kevboard, Qure Paniic, MrStilwater and omitomm who also suggested using personal music collections and the media player app. Thanks, everyone!]
BRING BACK the best feature of XBOX.........
The ability to store and save your own music on the HDD
The abilty to listen to your own music while in game
Please add background music without snap I don't have big TV or add a smaller menu only for Grove Music thank you
This was a feature on XBox 360. It allowed you to RIP CDs or save USB music to your console. I would love there to be a music tab in the guide that allowed me to change the volume, pick my music, pause, play, etc. and then have ti play in the background without the need for any snapped apps.
Add a Music tab where we can listen to our own music through USB or Home Server. You could also include Groove too. Also let us listen to this music in the background when we are playing games. NOT SNAPPED. Just like the 360
Allow Music to be streamed in the background via ahome media DLNA service, without having to leave an app snapped, similar to what occurs when you play music and a Game Simultaneously on the XBox 360.
Similar to the PC's layered windows. Instead of pausing or stopping script, it runs it in the background. Your snap was innovative. It's time to expand. I miss listening to my music while playing my game FULLSCREEN LOL. Reeally though, we should have the option to layer or minimize.
on the Xbox 360 we were able to play music with out snapping it. When I snap YouTube I can't search for songs which is bad, I would like for yous to be able to let us listen to music without snapping a app
There are times where I am playing here locally at home and I want to listen to the music that I have on my Xbox or that I have a hard drive that's connected to it however I need to have the music app open and I can't just snap the app over and have it running in the background before on the 360 the media player allowed me to go ahead and play my music and play at the same time I'd like to just have that feature back would be nice
We should be able to snap any app and minimize it while still being able to hear the audio In the background. I would like to be playing a game but also hear my music rather then the same tracks on a game, cause let's face it they get old no matter what song it is.
App Tabs -- 99% of us like to listen to a music app while gaming. Having to minimize our gaming screen to snap a music player is lame. So. Very. Lame. Why not just use the view button to switch between tabs so we can run a music app in the background of our games.
There should be an app where you can store music and you can snap it then unsnap and play music in the background while you play or full screen where its a video or a picture that moves like xbox 360 had.
Being able to play MP3 / Music instead of the game music like the xbox 360 allowed. This feature is badly needed. Why take features away?
Would be awesome if I could set a Pandora station then run it in the background(unsnapped) while playing my favorite game
Why can't the Xbox one do the one thing the 360 and the Original one did great? I want to have my Xbox Music playing when playing games full screen. Only way with Groove music for instance is to snap it or have groove full screen. I want a music player I can have on the side menu with the friends list, achievements, snap and settings and so forth like the 360 had it's media player in the guide menu. It was not in the way.
I hate it when I have to play games in a smaller window because groove want's to "snap" to work at all. Thus I only use it for smaller games atm like some of the old Xbox 360 arcade titles. I mean it's next gen, but still some things are a step back. This is just one of the many reasons I still love my 360 more at times.
Allow the Xbox One to have the ability of Music in the background.
Whether the source is through an app or a usb device, please let this become a thing.
The 360 had the ability and i used to jam out and play midnight club la all the time.
I hate having the snap on while I have a video game taking up unnecessary space on the Xbox one... I have to keep it taking up a 4th of the screen, just to listen to music while playing. Like when streaming on twitch. Or at least allow you to edit how much space a snap takes up.
Seria muito da hora poder colocar sua musica favorita pra tocar assim que o console for ligado, como uma musica de fundo e criar uma play lista pra que mude de musica automaticamente.
Fix this system. I just wanna play games and listen to music at the same time. So Xbox one stands for one thing at a time? Very contrary to what I was told the system could do when you guys were selling it to us.
If you are playing a game and want to listen to music, it gets irritating to have part of the screen cut of just to listen to music. I think it would be best if there was an option to enable background play on microsoft groove without having to split the screen.
Here is a great idea, I would like to be able to have a music app like iheartradio, or pandora on in the background while I am gaming or using my console to surf the the web, the fact that I can do this on my phone and not my console is annoying. Then every article I see about it is oh it's not coming for a while we have bigger things to worry about. Really? It's that hard for the biggest software company in the world to patch in the ability to have alternate sound playing in the background?
make the size from the media player in docking mode smaller that we have more view for the game because, I like listen to musik when i am playing games
Is there a way that we could have a music app or something that we don't have to snap Like on Xbox 360 where you have music in the background that you accessed from the menu,
Be able to listen to pandora or any music app in the background instead of snapping the music app the whole time .
Please allow us to minimize the Xbox music and still allow for it to play. In its current state I have to compromise graphics and screen size to keep it snapped to the size if I want music.
I hate the docking [Mod edit: Language removed] on my right screen.....
Worked great on Xbox & Xbox360. Xbox One is lacking usability. Snap!
It would be so much better to have a music app on the xbox that can play in the background without having to be snapped. Also make it compatible with other music apps like Pandora that way we can play with a full screen and listen to our music at the same time. I cannot stand playing a game with a snapped screen. is it just me?
Make it to where you can listen to pandora while playing your game in full screen instead of having the to snap pandora
Playing gears is sooo much better with music (as are racing games). I loved this feature on the 360 and miss it so much. Please hurry this one through - the xbox one is more than 2 YEARS OLD - how has it nit got this feature? Incredible.
During multi-player games, you should be able to listen to your own music while playing. Have Pandora in the background or your own music via USB drive.
We should be able to use apps like YouTube and Pandora and the media player in the background while playing a game so that we can listen to music or YouTube videos through the Xbox without having to snap it and make the screen smaller, we could do this with the media player on 360 so why shouldn't we be able to on one?
This suggestion can't be hard to do because 360 had it. That is paying music in the background while you play a game. Granted 360 was the music we ripped into the console. However I would love to see apps like Pandora and iHeart Radio utilizing this when playing a game and listen to music at the same time without the app being snapped. Lastly I believe Spotify should come to Xbox one.
It would be great to be able to hide/minimize snap in order to listen to music while playing games. This was one of the top features for Xbox 360. Why was it taken away?
I think this would be good as people always want to listen to their music on Xbox one, while playing a game. However, the huge snap bar gets in the way of the game. So being able to unsnap it and sill hear the music would be awesome!
If you're like me, you like to listen to music and have surrounded earphones on for the best audio. I don't like the snap app on screen reducing the ingame screen when my tv screen is small enough. I would be nice to hide/minimize snap app so its not on screen but have audio play in the background. Also to control the minimized snap app via smarthglass on separate device.
Like on xbox360 but better just imagine Pandora and other song apps like groove music and all that as playing in the background and able play games while listening
Be able to unsnap the Pandora app, and still have the music playing in the background.
I would like to see the ability to snap a streaming music app like Pandora or IHeartRadio to the background so that you can play streaming music while playing a game at full screen. When playing games like Elite Dangerous, Minecraft or any game for that mater it would be nice to listen to my own taste in music while enjoying these games.
If snapping to the background is impossible then give us the ability to adjust the snapped music apps pane size to where it is a size we can deal with.
youtube and other apps, run and play song in second plane, play game full screen with youtube run second
Remember on 360 all you had to do was push the home button and it would open a menu of other apps you can use? One of them was the easy access of music. The SNAP APP on Xbox one is nice, but I hate having to exit out of my game in order to change the song, as well as to see the whole snap app taking up most of the screen. Can we have the same ease of access like the Xbox 360 music on Xbox one? Thanks!
the ability to play music off of your USB Drive or hard drive while playing a game without having any app snap
The ability to have apps like groove music for example, run in the background without taking up space on the users screen.
I like to listen to music while playing games, I'm sure we all do. On my phone, I use the app called SyncStream to stream all my music from my iPhone to Xbox, and on Xbox 360, I am able to just click the home button while in the middle of a game, scroll to the right, go down, select music, and select from any music on my iPhone, and it doesn't take up the screen. While on Xbox One, I go to snap the Media Player, select my iPhone as device, and select music, just like Xbox 360. However on Xbox One, in order to listen to any music at all, the Media Player has to be snapped, so while playing a game like Call of Duty, almost a fourth of my screen is taken up by snapping the Media Player, which makes no sense. With apps like Twitch used to livestream, you can have it snapped up on the right of your screen and livestream, or you can unsnapped and it will still record, why can't it be like that for the Media Player? I'm sure I am speaking for everyone on this topic that likes to play and listen to music.
One thing Xbox One really needs is background play for music again..
With the new Dashboard menu they can do it really seamlessly. They could integrate a control center for your music between your friends list and the sign in menu, and when Cortana drops Xbox could scan music on any device you have connected and compile their metadata in a library. Then you could just say "Hey Cortana, play some System of a down" and she would shuffle all SOAD songs you have. Or "Hey Cortana play some metal" and she will shuffle your metal songs. You could also do that with songs if you want a specific song or Album if you want an ablum. What would be sweet is if they added the ability to do that with playlists too. You could make a playlist for Halo, Then say "Hey Cortana, play my Halo mix" and she would shuffle that playlist.
This would make Xbox even better than it already is.
Bring back being able to play music in the background while playing a game. I'm not talking about the "snap an app" either. On the 360, I was able to play music from my hard drive AND play a game at the same time.
Can we bring back the feature of playing music & playing a game full screen?!
Is Microsoft this incompetent? For the fact that this feature of wanting to listen to music in the background while playing video games is not setup with Groove Music which by the way is a subscribtion based service and you CANT LISTEN TO THE MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND....tells me that they are incompetent for this is A COMMOM SENSE APPROACH TO LISTENING TO MUSIC......NOT SNAPPING.....Snapping the Groove app IS IDIOTIC WHILE VIDEO GAMING....I can not tell you how much that there needs to be some management changes that needs to be done from what I have gathered from a tweet that came from Xbox....they said "its not A PRIORITY"....well let me tell you that if Xbox One came with background music from the start of when Groove App was released then there would be no problem....I WILL NOT PAY FOR A SUBSCRIBTION FOR GROOVE MUSIC UNTIL THERE IS BACKGROUND MUSIC ABILITY WHILE VIDEO GAMING....Whoever was the idiot that thought "SNAPPING" was a good idea for lstening to music should be fired
Allow the media player app to run without being snapped. I would like to play music from external devices, such as a flash drive, while I'm playing games without the app being snapped on the side of my screen! Please fix this simple software issue. The Xbox 360 was able to do this perfectly fine from the day it was released over 12 years ago! Please somebody fix this
Make it so that music can be played or streamed to Xbox one without having to have the grove music constantly snapped.
In other words I could snap grove music and start playing/streaming music to Xbox one and then unsnap it but the app continues to run in the background and plays music without being snapped.
If you could make this possible I would be EXTREMELY grateful!
have a toggle to play music either downloaded xbox music or pandora. maybe double tap home button and toggle appears
User should be able to minimize apps that stream music such as Pandora/apps such as Vevo and Youtube and the apps should continue to stream audio while the screen is dedicated to the main window
Make it sure that we can Listen ourer own musik while we play, without docking an appon the side. this looks not so good. Do it like on the xbox 360.
I would like to upload music, or play music from an app on the Xbox one. Therefore, having that music streaming while still getting game and party chat audio without snapping an app. Please... I know I was able to do it on 360 when I was owning nubs in halo 3, so I fire the Xbox one should allow the same ability while I'm owning nubs in BOIII... Thank you for your time.
I know we have a media player but It would be good if I could run in the background like Skype does so we can go full screen and play instead of keeping it snapped all of the time.
Please, xbox one, play music while playing, like the x360.. Por favor, xboxone, reproduzir musicas enquanto joga igual no x360, de preferencia que nao fique fixado para a musica continuar tocando.
The ability to use music apps like Pandora while gaming
With Windows 10 on Xbox One I think I have a good idea:
You probably all know that if you want to hear some Music while gaming you have to Snap the YouTube, Twitch, Grove, ..., app next to your game, which is (!my thoughts!) horrible on my 27" Screen... How about making something like "Multiple Desktops"!
When you double tab the Xbox Botton the Guid is opening. When you now klick the right (or left) shoulder button, which aren't used yet, you swap to an in the background running app/appS (No 2nd game i gues :D). To start an app in a 2nd Desktop you go to the Guid --> dock.
When you want to start a app you are asked to choose between "Dock App" and "Start in New Desktop".
Now you can hear your Music without having a app snaped next to your game.
Ps.: Sry for my english ;). @Microsoft hope you can find a better word than Desktop for this if you want to implement this.
Please add in game music without snapping. Snapping takes too much space in the display. Music should be in the background or invisible. It worked well with the 360 and was treasured feature. Why so hard to add to the Xbox One>?
I like to listen to my Music on my external hard drive quite often while playing games, however I don't like having a third of the screen being consumed by a dull and huge snapped app bar,
Would it be possible to add the option to fade the music into the background to free up your screen while playing???
Additionally, the option to control the content with your voice would be quite enjoyable too!!!!
some times I like to put my music on some games but I can't play it without removing the split-screen of my xboxONE
I can't express my frustration with this ability being takin away on the new generation which to me makes zero sense. On the 360 all I had to do was plug my USB in, hit the home button and play my music WHILE playing a game. I didn't have to "snap" it so it takes up half the screen, I don't want to have to sync my computer with it just to play music. It should be as simple as plugging a USB in and playing it like on 360. I also had control of the volume from the 360 and with this "Media Player app" you don't. I appreciate the media player app but it simply doesn't do what we all want, play music in the background while playing a game WITHOUT snapping. Aside that snapping it is annoying because it takes up the screen, it just seems like a step backwards plain and simple. There should be no reason you guys can't give us what we all want in an update. Make it happen. Thanks.
some sort of backround music so its not just the same old dashboard
Can we please have the feature back that allows us to play our own soundtracks to our games. Everybody wants this function returned. Please make it happen Xbox give us what we want here please please please. We need this feature
How about letting us be able to play music on our xbox one in the background while we play games instead of having to snap it that would help
Add a mini music player similar to the one on Xbox 360, just with one guide with a quick option for play/pause, skip forward, backward, shuffle and repeat with mini album art for when the tab is selected, then when selected, you can choose songs individually, play all, select a playlist etc.
Kun je iets maken waarbij ik muziek kan luisteren vanaf een USB Stick terwijl ik op volledig scherm door game?
Allow music apps to run in the background, that way you can have the full screen for a game so it won't interrupt the gaming experience and even improve your experience with your own music tastes
On the new xbox one experience there should be a special minimize mode for playing music from the console hdd or flash drive. the actual app for this is obsolete and annoying because it have to be snap reducing 35% to 40% of the screen so you have to deal with it while youre are playing or doing whatever you do and you have to past from snap to full screen to change files. another problem its the posibility of shut down the app while youre searching throught the main dashboard.
I am not asking for background music someone else already did that, I am saying that you should add it to the guide when you do!
Develop a function that place as the secondary option app as central audio it to put a specific application type automatically locks music a tab when requesting the functions which have the basic buttons: play / pause, forward, back and etc!
Retrouver un lecteur de musique en arrière plan comme il l’étais sur la Xbox 360 a l’époque ! écouter de la musique personnel en fond sans devoir ancrer une page !
Maybe its just me but i cant understand why the 360 was capable of playing your songs in the background without taking ANY screen space but not the One.
I would like to suggest a hide option on the snap feature on Xbox one as well as simply unsnapping. I feel like it takes up a lot of room on the to that I'm used to. Hiding the snap weather it be music/TV but still being able to hear it whilst playing without quater of the screen being taken up is a good idea.
In the same way that worked on Xbox 360
Let us listen to music while playing games without having to play on the small screen. Play the music in the background not having to snap it.
I like to listen my music while i play my games in special playing car games so i have to put a half of the screen with the music and the other half with my game and it looks bad so the idea that i would share is that when you put xbox music and you close it to play that to cancel it and play in full screen the game and no in a half of it thank you.
It would be amazing to play a game that's on full screen with music on in the backround because say now your playing a game like destiny that has no story it would be good if we could put music in the background without snaping while we mindlessly shoot at a cave
This is something that all next gen consoles should have simply have done at release.
In the new experience update when you snap groove music, media player, YouTube etc, there should be a play in backround option and to controll the music, simply goto the guide by double tapping Xbox button and there should be a Window showing being able to pause, play, rewind etc
video apps and music with floating windows would be great, or function to minimize while playing.
Like in the Xbox 360, let users play music in the background without snapping any apps, it's really annoying and it takes space from the screen. At least put a very small box in the ccorner of the screen to let users know what is currently playing.
Make a app that would let us play music in the background and that we can close the app or stop snap and the music is still playing
ich wünsche mir dass man wie bei der xbox 360,seine eigene Musik hören kann während des spielen.allso meine musik im hintergrund.
I hope that you can hear his own music as in the Xbox 360, during spielen.allso my music in the background.
I like listening to music while I play games like Battlefield or COD so I usually use the xbox one music app but I really don't like having to keep it snapped while I play as it can be very distracting. So, I think that you should be able to press the start/select button while on the dashboard (highlighting the music app) and have the option to "Run app in Background". this would be so much better as you wouldn't have to have the app snapped the whole time.
My idea is very simple. We just seriously need to have a way to listen to our music while playing games without losing our screen. I don't think sacrificing 1/3 of my screen is worth an album cover.
I believe this is very possible, because if I can talk on Skype with friends without the snap feature why can't we do it with music?
If you do not know how to talk on Skype without snapping here is the 3 steps:
1. Launch Skype and a call.
2. Then Snap skype during call.
3. Un-snap skype during call.
I used this as a party chat feature back when the party app was messing up. This still works to this day. I think Microsoft can use this informstion to find a way to get music to be playable purely in the background.
I just want to listen to music and play games rather than play the music next to me and play games. Having the game audio and music playing in the headset at once really is awesome. The 360 made me realize how awesome that experience is.
Use Groove or something (maybe Spotify), but be able to keep listening to the music while playing any game.
Background Music in xbox one, please :(
i know you get this alot, and i mean a lot. but when are we getting background music instead of having to have it snapped. now before any neg comments hear me out. with NXOE the snap was on the right side, to begin with, not even a moth into testing the swapped it back, so the coding cant be to hard. and when using apps like pandora for instance, it will be playing and once unsapped it is only muted not stopped
Run pandora or music player with out having it snaped.
it be cool if we were able 2 unsnap our music
and still listen 2 it
I'am part of the test group for windows 10 on xbox one. I know this has been posted many times about playing music in the background of games like we can on the 360. I know we can snap the music player but that makes my 50'' tv into a 30'' .We have beged for this to work like it does on the 360,I had hoped the new program would fix this but it did not. Maybe it can't work on the xbox one? But to lose 30% of your tv to play music won't work.
I have a idea for the xbox one. The idea is to be able to play or hear music from the xbox while playing any video games without the snap to be out and so you don't have a small screen to play video games with the music snapped.
So ever since Media Player was added I was enjoy that I can listen to my own music, but disappointed that the only way to listen to music while playing games was to have Snap out which ruin the fun for me, I barely go on the Xbox that much because I'm a music person and I enjoy listening to my music while playing games but to sacrifice a quarter of the screen just for my music isn't really helping, for me hopefully with the new Xbox update coming out hopefully I won't have to deal with the situation.
A way to play music in background while in game, without using snap, so full screen is in use.
It sure would be nice to see background music on windows 10 Xbox one, without having to snap anything that takes up the screen when playing a game.
it would be a great thing if you could listen to your musici collection from groove music while you are in other
Not having to snap the app
Will we able play music in the background on our xbox one.
I really wish listening to music on Xbox One was similar to the 360 in that it was easy, you didn't have to Snap an App like Xbox Music or YouTube, and how you could simply play your game in full screen while the music is playing. I really miss that, and I'm hoping in the new UI, I can somehow listen to music while playing a game in full screen.
Used to be able to use a flash drive with music to play in the background while gaming.
HIGH PRIORITY! Make pandora available as in game BGM with mixer support!!! PRIORITY #1
Wie Want a Music Player 4 Mp3´s WMA FLAC etc and this can be Running in Backround ... How Xbox, Xbox 360 ....
Microsoft needs to learn that taking away features from it's consumer population is not good for business. The fact that I can't play my own music in the background of whatever game I'm playing severely hurts replay ability. Now I believe Microsoft's primary concern at any given moment is "How do we keep players playing?" Because that generates more revenue and that's what Microsoft about at it's core is about. It's a business (Duh!).
So one would think that Microsoft would look into a very simple feature (one that has already been created) to further increase it's console's replay ability. Why it hasn't been implemented yet is beyond my comprehension. But I believe that such a small change can be put into the Xbox One's system. Your not actually changing any of the apps your running your simply minimizing them. A feature that has been around since before any of the Xbox consoles came out.
The Xbox Team at Microsoft are some of the best programmers there are, how do I know this? Because they work at Microsoft, one of the most profitably programming companies ever. I truly believe that can find a way to make this happen.
Be able to listen to music while playing games, would be awsome!
It would be great if we could have music playing in the background without the need of having the app snapped. Just enjoy a full screen gaming session with some Pandora Internet Radio in the background.
Iwould like my music to play while gaming.
I was wondering if you could release an update to allow Youtube or Pandora to be played in the background of a game instead of Snapping it, and therefore making the game smaller. Like you can keep the snapping ability but just maybe give an option to unsap and continue audio deliverance. This would definitely make a lot of people happy, it was a great feature on the Xbox 360 and I was hoping if you could bring it back. thank you for your time
How about fixing Media player so I can still have it playing after I unsnap it ? Snap takes up too much room on the screen just to listen to music.
I don't want to keep it snapped but still listen to it!
Let us be able to let youtube, xbox music or everything related with music be active while we play games so we can listen to our music and let us be able to mute the ingame music the xbox 360 could already do this the one needs it too!
Please allow xbox one users to stream music from apps such as Pandora Radio without having them snapped. I would love to be able to play my games full screen while streaming my favorite stations or bands in the background. This would not be hard because the apps continue to run in the background anyway unless they are closed manually. I figured with xbox promoting the one's multitasking capabilities so much that this feature should have come stock. However it must have been overlooked. Thank you for your time and please consider my input.
allow music to play in the background like on the xbox 360 so that you can both ppay games and listen to music without having to snap open t
I love listening to music and playing games at the same time. But to this I'm forced to snap the music app and it really messes up my gameplay because the screen is messed up. Can we make it so the app can run in the background and we can hear the music without it snapped?
As it says
In my particular case, I would love to be able to use Pandora in the background while I am playing my games or while I am browsing the web. That is currently possible, but you have to use the snap feature and share some of your screen space with the Pandora app, which really doesn't need any actual visual space. I would like to be able to snap the Pandora app while playing my game, and hit the start button to select "Run in background" or something of the sorts. This would allow me to still listen to the audio, without having to give up screen real estate. Also, something that would be nice would be if you could adjust a fader in the main system settings for when you run an audio app in the background, so as to decide what ratio of game audio to background app audio you want (a.k.a. how loud you want your music to overpower your game audio)
Ok ur listening to music on ur xbox u want to game but the screen is too small when usnap it but with my idea still listen to it but not in ur way
Have music play able from pandora in the background while playing games and music share through the xbox party by party leader this would be great!!!
I would like to see a way to "Minimize" (like in Windows) a snapped app. Basically the audio from both apps would play. So I could tune my Dish Network to a SiriusXM channel and listen to it while I play a game over top. Right now I have to have the TV snapped to the side. It's just an unnecessary annoyance. This would also work great with YouTube or Pandora/other apps like that where you could listen to music while playing games.
Since this feature was on Xbox 360 and even the first xbox it should be on Xbox One too! Music could be played from apps like Xbox Music or Tune-In Radio would be pretty cool.
we should be able to listen to music without the unsnaped screen showing
So after i snap pandora and start my music, i can unsnap it and the music will continue. If i want to skip a song i can re-snap it, skip and then unsnap again. This would make gaming with music going much more enjoyable.
For music I use apps like Pandora on the Xbox One. I saw a familiar forum post about only Xbox Music, but I think all music apps should not have to be snapped to hear them. Let the music be played in the background. If possible, make it possible for developers to detect music playing and mute the in-game music. Thanks for listening.
Currently you have to keep iheart or pandora snapped to play music but the party app can be unsnapped
It would be better if apps like Pandora, Xbox Music, and the Media Player didnt have to always be snapped to keep the music playing. Make the able to play the music in the backround unsnapped, like 360.
I remember on the 360 you could listen music while you play without taking half of your screen, I think it's kinda weird you can't do the same on the Xbox one, can you bring it back please?
Accessing Xbox music in the background while playing games and other activities, like when you double tap the home button you can access a sub menu like snap but when you close snap music still plays
Please add the option to be able to hide a snapped app like media player in the background or "hide" the app but still hear the audio from it. I love listeneing to music and playing games but I have to use 40% of my screen if I want to do so. Make it so, #1.
I miss having my 360 play music in the background while i slayed dragons in skyrim or other large solo games. If this could be tweaked or added would make my xbox 1 more diverse. Thanks
Ok, so we all now how to snap an App but how about tapping the home button Once Then Holding the Home Button to snap an App to the BackGround. Apps's Such as Too Music and Radio or audio App's.
It is something that should already be on there, like with the party, not requiring something to be snapped should be a priority on everything possible, so that we are able to play our games to maximum efficiency.
I have posted this 5 or 6 times, others have also asked for this. But it just gets merged with other post and you will say that you can play music and close the post. On the 360 you can play your own music in the background of games, that is all we want. I have done a quick search on what has been posted about this and its more than 8000 that have voted for this. Maybe it can't work on the Xbox one, if it can't than just tell us.
Wen u unsnap youtube u can still listen to ur video r music and still have a full screen thnx we really need this Microsoft
The ability to play music / tv/ youtube/whatever... in the background instead of being snapped to the side... would rather full screen gaming
it would be great to use these without snap to allow fullscreen gaming while listening to your favourite app
I'd like to listen to music while i playing a game without snap being open. And also adjust the volume to the in-game sound and the music. Last have a part where at the top right of the screen, a small box shows you: The album cover, The song name, The artist, and the Album name/year.
We all love to play music in the background on our 360's so why not bring it to xbox one
I want to be able to listen to Pandora or any other music app without it taking the side of the screen.
I'd like to have the option of having the snapped app visible or minimized and still have it active.
When I select a music from my hard drive, I can't navigate to my albums without the music being stopped.
Please let the music play in the background. Thanks
Listen to music while playing
I love streaming my iPod library to my system via DLNA. But it's annoying to have it snapped. Having it running in the background would be extremely helpful.
On the 360 you were able to play music with no problem while playing fullscreen games, i think if you made an option to continue playing the app after unsnapping it would finally make listening to music worth it on Xbox one. Also would be great to have options like this for other apps you can listen to music on
Allow us to listen to Xbox Music unsnapped while in a game!
I would enjoy it if I could listen to Pandora but also have it unsnapped, as I have to keep it snapped which covers the right side of my screen, and also the border of the game is now smaller. Maybe there can be a thin border running across the bottom of the screen saying the songs name, artist, and length.
Wouldnt it be nice to be able to listen to your music while playing your favorite game because i think it would be nice to listen to music while playing your game but more awesome when you dont have it in snap mode or in fullscreen to where you can have your game on the whole screen instead of just 80% of the screen thats all i ask of you microsoft.
Xbox 360 let us listen to music while playing our favorite games, i think we should have this back snap app is nice but i dont like how it takes up space
Seeing as they are using a 360 emulator to make the one backwards compatible, why can't they do something similar for music?? And why on earth could you play music in the background on the ORIGINAL Xbox and 360 but not the ONE???? Been with Xbox for over 10 years and I'm amazed that they were stupid enough to take this much loved feature out? Microsoft being greedy and trying to force people to pay for Xbox music. I don't want this S@@T!!!!! I want to play my music!!!!
On the 360 you can play music from a mp3 player or a thumb drive, and that music will play in the background of any game you play. On the xbox one you can play music with a mp3 player but that music stops when you start a game.
Please allow Pandora to play in the background when you unsnap the app. You shouldn't have to keep the app snapped in order to keep listening to music. If you don't want to listen anymore you can quit the app. Please make this happen.
Just think of being able to play you're favorite games and listening to music from an app or listening to a streamer on Twitch, Without having 10-15% of your screen disappear. I love Snap but when I want to listen to music or my favorite streamer talk about what's going on in my favorite game, I don't really need to see what song is playing or what him or her is doing. I'm not saying get rid of Snap but just give us a way to choose in Snap if we would like the app to play in the background or right there in front of us in Snap would be nice.
I need to be able to play music from any size harddrive in the background of games with any file type (wav, flac, mp3 et al).
(Or if it is possible, how?)
It would be amazing if the xb1 could play music while i played games without having to sacrafice a portion of my screen to "snap" music. The xbox360 could do this, why not the xb1?
Make youtube, media player and twitch TV have the ability to work like the party app so you don't have to have them snap all the time.
When playing xbox music, I think you should be able to unsnap it and I still play in the background until it is stopped. Sorta like the twitch app when broadcasting, I don't have to see my video in the corner or anything but in the bottom of the screen it says im broadcasting and says how many viewers are on. Maybe when a new song comes on just have a little over lay at the bottom that shows the new song that is playing? Thank you for checking this idea out.
Media player should be able to play in the background without being snapped and overide in-game audio like xbox 360. Also needs volume control.
We need to be able to listen to music type media apps for the xbox 1 in the backround so we can unsnap them and use our full tv while playing games or doing anything for that matter. More like xbox360. Twitch runs in the background. It makes the xb1 less universal.
When enjoying streams on twitch, a lot of twitch users streaming form the PC add music to their streams. I think one of the main functions missing from Twitch on XBOX One is the ability to add music to your broadcast. I think it would be interesting if there was an option to let a user play music to their viewers through the use of the XBOX Music App.
A new app which alows us to plug in iPods, ipads, phones ect... And play music in the background. While in game you can snap the app to shuffle, pause, play ect. This would be good for party's so I can play dubstep with my Dolby digital full blast!!!
When in the snap menu, you could push (X) or said button, to hide an app currently being used on the side. You could then uncover the side bar by opening the snap menu and selecting it, or with the same button that hide it. I.E. Listening to Pandora while gaming full screen
Ability to play music in the backgroung while playing games instead of having to use snap
I have music on my Usb thinking that I play music in the background, but nope I was wrong. This would be an amazing feature, please add it in.
with the new xbox experience you guys should re do the whole xbox dash board to where were able to add music of our own into our games. yeah video game soundtracks are cool but we should be able to listen to our own music in the back ground while were playing games
be able to whenever you want to listen to music while playing without having to leave that tab on the right would be a good option for those who like to play listening to music
Pouvoir écouter de la musique sans être obliger de laisser l'application lecteur multimédia ancré
It would be extremely useful to be able to listen to music on our Xbox One's like we could on Xbox 360 without having to have it snapped on our screen, which is intruding the flow of the game, App etc etc. This is something we've wanted from Day One, Please, please, please make it happen! :D
On the Xbox 360 you had the ability to listen to any music you pleased at any time that was saved to the hard drive via Xbox Guide and RIP CDs to said Hard Drive. It was great to listen to my music while playing games and not have half the screen obstructed. Bring back this ability to Xbox One, it can work the same way party does.
I hate that if i want to listen to music while i have my headset on i have to snap an app so my music can come through. I would like it to be how it was on the 360 that the music was playing in the background and would disturb the game im playing by making the screen smaller
We lost a simple feature when moving over to the ONE, snapping xbox music whilst playing competitive arcade games costs you screen space. Can we have what we had on 360 please?
It gets very annoying having to leave the snap feature on while listening to music. I would like this feature to be developed so we can have music running in the background.
Allow having music in the background while playing games plus make it adjustable like between xbox one and snap mode sound
I think users should be able to listen to music from a xbox one app in the background without snapping it.
Make the Media Player, Xbox Music, Pandora, and other music apps be able to function in the background, without needing to be snapped, like it was on the Xbox 360.
I miss the old days of playing music on the 360... We shouldn't have to have snap open to listen to music! We should be able to close snap and play our game full screen with music playing in the background
I don't like listening to game music. whatever could be created by the game or licensed, not usually my cup of tea. Let us play music while gaming. right now id have to let my snap stay open, squishing the screen. and to play something, please go full screen. that causes too much app switching and time i get kicked for being idle in gta. all i want is my music like i could play on guide, and close it. Also, the snap vs game sound mixer isn't really doing it for me either. id like to set my own volume, based on what game or music i am playing.
Playing games like Forza, Madden and NBA 2k was even more fun when I was able to stream music from my PC. If you guys do add the ability please make it so it does not wipe my ext. HD that I use for my Surface Pro3, all my music is backed up on there lol. Thanks.
I really like listening to music while I play a game, but I hate that the apps I'm using and the game I'm playing have to share the screen.it would be nice if you guys added a hide option to snapped apps
Put the snapped video or live TV into a Picture in Picture type display instead of scaling down the game you're playing. Make it an overlay instead.
And allow music to play without being snapped as well.
Why can't we listen to our Music on the Xbox One in the background. Seriously, it's the easiest thing to do and the Community has been asking for this for so long.
right now we have to have snap of our media device, music player or any streaming app for music . its annoying ! . i and hopefully most request to have music running in the background while we are playing or on the UI (home) just like in xbox 360 we had a small player within the xbox guide where we could start playing a music and close the xbox guide while its still playing . please and thank you
Why can't I hear songs while playing without snapping like in the xbox 360? Xbox one is a next gen it's supposed to do the same or greater things.
Ripping cds EXACTLY like 360 did. This includes artwork, song and album names, volume, custom playlists, and of course seamlessly replace game music with our music while still hearing everything else in the game. EXACTLY like the 360. What part of exactly dont you understand?? I could do all this on original xbox for gods sake. I would put my music on random and clean the house( i have surround sound). I should be able to rip and play music anytime, anyway i want. My best fix is to snap my 360 and play music that way. Which still sucks!!! This is a necessity, my music was on 12hrs aday everyday for 12 yrs.......and now its gone. Not happy
It would be nice to have the ability to unsnap Music Apps (Xbox Music, Iheart, etc) and have the music play in the background.
Also the ability to burn CDs and have them play in the background would be very nice as well. Similar to how the Xbox 360 does it.
I love listening to music on Pandora while im gaming. It would nice to minimize the app and show it in bar on the bottom of the screen. Doing that would give the player the use of the entire screen. I play on a smaller tv and having to keep these apps snapped makes it even smaller.
I love your SNAP feature but could you augment it so that it would work more in the background like on a PC. I love listening to Pandora and playing HALO but to do that all on my xbone I have to give up picture space??? P.S it would be cool if you could integrate music apps into the games so when their is an important talking scene the music stops or fades.
Apps that run in the back ground? So you still have full screen gaming. For example, I would love to see a spotify app that has this ability so I can then play my own playlists when playing games that doesn't need much listening to the game, like forza horizon 2, instead I need to connect my phone to my stereo and play spotify that way! Would really like to see an app like this, or make it more available for people running on iOS!
Can we get media player to allow us to listen to our own music from a media device while we play games in game music doesn't do it for me and my friends hate it when I play music over my speakers so being able to listen to it via my headset just like xbox 360 would be very awesome
It gets really really annoying to play a game and have the app snapped to the right taking space from the screen. Fix this please, I don't need to see the song that is playing at the moment or at least turn the info of the song and everything into a small icon in the corner of the screen instead of taking a chunk of the screen away.
The ability to upload your own music to either the internal or external drive and stream that music without having an app snapped
I want to be able to copy music onto my console like the 360,and be able to listen to that music while in game without snap taking up half of my small screen.
Need a way to listen to music without giving up a portion of my screen
Allow us to listen to music while playing any game like we could on the xbox 360. Xbox one took a step back it seems in music compatibility. I would like to be able to connect my ipod to my xbox one and play the music while gaming like i was once able to do. One of my favorite things to do was play EA's Skate, and various other sports titles, while listening to my personal music without having to have the snap feature open and ruining my gaming experience.
I hope you do something soon. With Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 coming out i might be forced to buy it for PS4 in order to get the same experience i enjoyed for years on xbox 360.
Sometimes I'd like to listen to some music (on YouTube) whIle playing a game and the only way that will happen is when I snap YouTube. i thought it would be a great idea that we could play YouTube in the background. So we still play our games on full screen and enjoy music
Hello, I'd like to see an update for music feature in xbox one. Sure you can play music on xbox one ( thanks Microsoft ) but I'd like to be able to unsnap and let the music play in the background while I play a game or talk on Skype with my friends. Thanks if any employee takes not of this.
Unlike the ps4, I cant play games in full screen while listening to music on that's on my usb flash drive. Having the stupid snapscreen taking up almost a 1/4 of my tv screen is completely annoying. I wish I could upload all my music on to the hard drive though all my music was stored on my computer in windows media. I bought a flash drive just to listen to music on my xbox one, since my computer is old and cant connect to the xbox one. I was very dissapointed when i have to have a huge snap screen on while gaming.. Really wish microsoft would fix this issue somehow. I'm pretty sure there are thousands other people would like this too.
A media player like the one on xbox 360, not something that u have to snap to the side, but built-in like the old menu.
We should be able to play music from our devices without needing to snap the Xbox Music application.
Make Pandora, game recording, and similar apps able to work in the background instead of needing to be snapped. For example, twitch does not need to be snapped to broadcast. It would be easier and better for the gaming experience to be able to play music in the background.
Using media player to listen to music streamed from my pc while playing games without loosing part of the screen by using snap. Playing games like Forza is fun but having our own music would be awesome. Thx
Can we get a "hide snap" feature? Like it was on the Xbox 360. We can hear music from our media device or pandora and then be able to "hide the app" so we can play fullscreen and keep the music playing. That would be real nice.
It'd help make up for not having Spotify
Allow the console to have youtube/music player etc.. audio still playing in the background whist in full screen game, the 360 can do it, seems like a step backwards...
Listen to music while playing xbox one games like you can do with 360.
This way we can have the whole screen playing some CoD and not having 3/4 of the screen
I'd like to be able to play games and listen to my music. Nobody wants to turn on their xbox/tv just to listen to music.
I loved that feature on Xbox 360 it should be on the one so please add it ! :)
You all remember the Music Player in the Xbox 360? The one where you could play any music via the Xbox interface - be it from a device linked into the X360's USB port or straight from hard drive - and have it play on the background while playing?
Yeah, somehow you guys didn't include that same feature into the Xbox One in Day 1 - everytime I try to snap YouTube or the Music Player and try to play some music while playing, the music instantly gets stopped once that snapped app is removed. I don't understand why such a small, yet a great thing isn't included in release.
Might be, since you're skimping on something, and that isn't a surprise. But seriously, if you want to impress me with your monthly Xbox One update videos, you'd better include this feature in the future.
Use your own music in the background wile playing the game fullscreen, not with the app on the rightside.
I play music from a flash drive through the xbox one media player. I play games while listening to music, but dont like using the app alot because it will only work when its snapped. Can you make it so the media player can play music in the background while unsnapped. The PS4 can currently play music from the media player in the background the Xbox one should as well.
**Maybe add controls to the media player like play, pause, skip, etc. to the xbox one app on smart devices.
Basically if you wanted to snap something and not want it to be taking up screen space you have the option to make it run still but in the background. That way switching between things doesn't take so long to load. Just to open up my achievements it take a what seems like forever. things were so much snapper on the 360.
When will we be given the ability to rip/burn our music CDs to our Xbox One so that we can listen to music while we play our games? Why was this feature left out? The Xbox 360 had this feature. Was it deliberate?
As of now, the only way we can listen to music on the Xbox One while playing games is by streaming music through the Snap App feature. Not only does this take up part of the screen but it also makes online gameplay laggy. Why the regression on something Microsoft implemented over a decade ago last gen?
Are we suppose to buy our music library AGAIN via Xbox Music App??? Are we then suppose to listen to it through the Snap App feature which minimizes our gaming screen? I don't understand this. Please explain to me why this feature is not available yet.
This would allow us to listen to music and still play full screen just like on the old xbox 360. This would benefit apps like Xbox Music, Media Player, and TV without having to code a whole new feature
The xbox one is good system but could benefit from some improvements, for example when playing music with the snap function you loe a portion of ur screen and the sfx from your game are completely cut out, perhaps take a look at the way the 360 managed its music, full screen and without cutting out the games sfx.
The ability to play music in the background is a severely needed feature and since the initial thread ( with 18.5k votes supporting it, more than any other feature) to get this implemented has gone ignored since the beginning its time for a new one.
Enough with ms music. Why should i pay a monthly fee for music i already own. Also if u do give me my music please make it snap free like parties. (p.s 360 has it)
You guys need to bring back the background music function from the 360 and put it on the xbox one i don't like having to need the snapped screen up to play music on my games, as it is very distracting and just looks clunky
Play music while gaming without a app being snapped
It will be nice if you can hearing music while seeing picture.
Or make Xbox Music work in the background without splitting the screen.
It will also be nice if the xbox logo can make a movement or change colour between white and green so it dosen't make a screen burn-in.
Why not let us play music from a playlist in the background and put the controls in the snap an app section.
I want this feature to be on Xbox One! Everyone will enjoy this, without a doubt. We are wanting to be able to play music either from media player or a music app while gaming or surfing the web. We don't like the fact where we have to use the snap feature to listen to music and where it makes the screen smaller while we are gaming. We need this feature immediately, hopfully It will be in the may update! Cheers, hoping to see this feature soon!!! Best Regards, Microsoft!
Let me play music in the background without snapping and taking 1/3 of my screen this should be the #1 requested feature
The ability to allow music applications such as pandora to play music in the background while we play such as on xbox360. Also adding in a feature to his to allow the music to be louder than the game and automatically deafening the game or have a music just to add in another noise level. As of now it only has one setting, and you can possible set the game, usually only letting is to decrease its sound.
we should be able to play music in background while playing a game without using snap on Xbox One, just like on Xbox 360? why would microsoft not implement this feature I understand it is really convenient to be able to play music without using snap while playing a game. that feature is not yet available on Xbox One at the moment and if we want to play music, we need to use snap at the moment. surely you can add the feature on xbox one.
We can put music onto our console using USB or home server and we can play the music in the background (no snapped app)
This was one of the best features for Xbox 360 it's almost unconscionable that it's not available on Xbox one.
Music played in the background while gaming from usb stick or usb hdd!! More movie codec support for media files such as divx and a eject disk feature from dash board
I think you should be able to play music and a game at the same time without having to snap like on 360 you could play music in the background
Use audio apps such as Xbox Music, Pandora, Etc. to play in the background. Most gamers like playing in full screen.
I just want the same ability I had on xbox360.
Make it so snap is not taking up my screen just because i want to play music and play games.
The ability to play music without having to snap the app.
I would like to be able to play my own music in the background while playing a game like on the 360
it would be nice to be able to hide the snap screen when I'm playing a game and listening to music at the same time considering you could do that on the original Xbox and the 360
When ever I have tried playing a CD or tried to play any type of music I am required to be on that application for it to play, when i go out of the application the music stops, this is wrong in my opinion.
You should be able to play music in the background on your xbox one and be able to play games or go on applications with the music in the background without any issues.
We should be able to hide snapped items
Snap option is ok but its sucks that it takes up part of your screen. I don't want to play a game like that while I try to listen to music at the same time which is why the Snap- Music should run in the backround like the Party option does in games. Also with the App store should bring more music options like Spotify, i would have expected it to already be an option to DL or to add since its the most commonly used music software. Other then that still some flaws with the xbox one but overall i love it.
Something that would make the experince of Xbox One even better would be if we could have our music play on the background rather than have it snapped. When the music player is snapped, it takes up a good portion of the screen making it a bother when actually playing a game. Many would agree that having music play in the background while you game is one of the best things that you can do to get in the game!
App Xbox music needs to run in the backgroud to listen to our music in onedrive while you play.
Please the addition of unsnapping the Xbox music, Pandora, or any other music app and still allow for the music to continue playing would be amazing. The screen does get fairly smaller while an app is snapped so, while gaming music in the background would be great. Maybe a small hub in the corner play/pause, skip, and previous along with the song title was displayed. PS a soundcloud app would be so clutch!
i dont want my screen smaller i want to play my music from a flash drive/ media device connected by usb with it being snapped i dont like that i want some of the 360 features back
I don't exactly know if this has been addressed before on this forum but the Xbox Music application does not continue to play music when unsnapped. I believe this occurs when both playing music off of Xbox's servers and playing music off a device connected through Bluetooth but I have only tested Bluetooth.
I know this might just be a small bug and it would be greatly appreciated if this feature was to be added or fixed, thank you.
Everytime I want to listen to music and play at the same time the snap app covers the display and that's annoying. But I still like you Xbox
Launch the XBOX MUSIC APP and have an option to snap or play in background using smartglass ,or have the buttons mapped in the snap menu
Ex: LT:Previous song, RT:Next song etc...
The "SNAP" feature is good but having certain apps snapped slows down the connection and causes lag or party chat problems
Would love to be able to "hide" the snapped Xbox music app after I cue up my playlist, and not have it take up "snapped app" real estate, but still work and play music while hidden. For example User says:"Xbox snap Xbox music", cue up playlist and hit play. Music starts playing, user says: Xbox hide snapped app, or Xbox hide music app", snapped app disappears leaving game full screen, but still continues too play music (in background) with set audio mix between game and snapped app.
Allow streaming music to play as the game music without having the app snapped to the screen. I miss being able to listen to whatever I like while I play.
Custom soundtrack.play our own music while playing anygame
I want to be able to listen to music while playing a game without the snap feature taking up half my screen(i have a small tv). I would also love to be able to download music from CD on to my xbox. PLEASE.
I love the 'snap' feature on the Xbox One but I don't like how I can only listen to music if it's snapped to the side.
When playing on the 360 you can have your music playing in the background while you were gaming and to be honest, looking back, that is brilliant. Could have this happen?
Just like how Xbox music allows us to unsnap with the music still playing. It would be really awesome if the media player app did this as well because some people's music could all be on a hard drive or usb flash drive
need to make music on background, while playing game on Full screen.
So i prefer to use this.
And when we are paying 7euros per month/probly we need free Apps aswell?
Basically how it was on the 360. you could have your own music in the background of ANY game or app without it stopping. Considering Xbox One has huge multitasking ability, this can probably be done without a problem...
Snap is cool.. but rarely smooth (a different issue altogether). At least let us play some apps hidden in background or let us play our own friggin music without Snap squishing our Game screen. I mean come on... jeez. Nah, lets make tiles transparent or screenshots instead! I honestly find the whole music during gaming the only huge Xbox One disappointment. It was so dang smooth on 360.
It would be nice to be able to listen to music while playing games while being unsnapped. Whether its through an app or media player.
As simple as it was on xbox 360 music player remained completely hidden and active with music on a pen drive while we play our game, without reducing the visual area of the game.
As is now greatly reducing the area of play on the TV.
Youtube, music, and any app that can be used while snapped should be able to hear in the background. Like have it so you have to snap it then from there hit the option button to play in the background. It's pretty cool that i can watch a music playlist but it would be a 100x better if i can just listen to it in the background as most of us has a youtube app or smart glass app on our phones to still have access to the apps whilst they are in the background.
People enjoy music and gaming, in fact most players like to play and listen at the same time. The only problem is xbox snap, you have to have your console screen snapped to listen, which in most cases is either annoying or difficult while playing. You guys as a team should try and come up with a wat to counteract that. Xbox Music is great as well, but maybe try to part ways with Spotify and iTunes to make it an XB1 app. Thanks guys -Hostley
Well I love to hear music while I am playing but when you have snap and play halo or any game it makes the screen small and I play in my room my TV is about 32inch. Can you the developer make an option to remove it and yeah I know there some people that like that snap on your screen but when you have small screen it’s annoying
If we are allowed to play music in the background of the 360 why not the one, I would really like you guys to implicate that into the ONE. No gamer wants the see a half screen of the game they are playing.
I just want to listen to some music i have on my flash drive while playing games. Not that much to ask fpr right ?
when i game i like to use youtube as an snap app but when i game the game viwe screen isw smaller so this hinders my game play if it would be me id siize down the size of the snap into the right conor so the game iis full screen but the right mini side has an small snaped app so it doesnt get in the way but yet is stilll on screen
Allow those who use pandora to continue to listen to their music in the background at the home screen or in a game when unsnapping the app.
im not sure if this idea has been brought up yet, i cant imagine why it wouldnt be, but i think it would be cool to goto youtube on my xbox one, pick a setlist of music or something and then switch to my game while the youtube music continues to play. right now the youtube video just stops and the game volume comes back when u go into the game. I think it would be better if when you went into the game, you could hear the game volume aswell as the youtube video in the background so u can game out to music that way too.
Thanks for reading :)
I see that there is already one for "Xbox Music" but I would like it if you can unsnap Pandora and still have music playing.
Play apps like pandora in the background instead of having to have them snapped
Make it so I can snap my music whether it be pandora or the xbox music app and allow me to hide the snap and have a full screen to play my games with my own music. A great way would be to stream the music from the smart glass so that we could still snap a party chat and listen to music without them hearing your music. You could also adjust all three volumes that way.
When i play i use the music player in the snap but this cut my screen and i lost this part, i love this option in the 360 but now i dont have it in the XBOX ONE.
Snap is a great feature, but it isn't as great when I'm trying to play a game and listen to pandora at the same time. Would really like to have the ability to play pandora in the background and have full screen support
Please make Pandora playable during gaming in the background
Play music in background without Xbox Music app dock on, so you can play on fullscreen and listening to music the same time.
It would be cool if we could play background music even from apps (Youtube, Pandora, etc...) when they are not snapped
eu gostaria que voltasse a opção de ouvir musica enquanto estamos jogando no xbox one, igual existe no xbox 360
Hey everyone the xbox one is missing something that has set xbox apart from the competition since day one, im referring to the ability to listen to custom music while playing a game.
Its not really pleasant to play a game with a quarter of the screen permanently snapped to the side and whenever you full-screen a app it closes other apps, if you were to implement a snap to background feature i would be much happier with the xbox one.
backgrounp play features for internet explorer n other apps that play music
Let us snap music apps like Pandora radio in the background while playing games so I can listen while playing
Would it be possible to play music in game without having to loose 1/4 of the screen? When you un-snap, it closes the app. It's not the end of the world but it would be a good feature to bring back from the 360.
allow a minimized version of the snap to be used that will become a transparent box that will display the song name and artist. this box can be set to be placed in any of the four corners of the screen. having to keep these fully snapped to continue music playing is ridiculous...
i want to be able to listen to music through my headset without having to have the app snapped which does end up being annoying after about 1 minute
Vote and Comment!
The Xbox 360 had a very popular ability. The ability to play or stream music in the background while playing any game. You could stream music from a home PC, CD or USB device while playing your games or browsing the home page.
I have an Xbox music subscription, but it's a pain and invasive to have to have it "snapped" in order to listen to music while I'm playing games or browsing the GUI. Please bring this feature back!
After speaking to Henriette, one of the xbox customer support agents, I was recommended to share my idea on this page regarding the use of pandora on xbox one. I recommend that an update or feature come out for the app so that while playing my game, I can listen to music without the snap feature to the right. In my opinion, the snap feature takes up too much space and it would be great if I could listen to Background music!
Basically enjoying your music in the background in full screen without having to snap an app to play your music while gaming. Just like the feature on Xbox 360. An update that addresses this would be great!
Just like the 360 could. We need to be able to add music to our hard drive and/or stream it from devices and play it while playing a game or anything else without having to leave a snapped window up. Need to be able to continuously play music in the background. This was an awesome feature on the 360 and needs to be brought back please!
When gaming and having the tv snapped to the right, the snap menu takes up all of the screen on the right side. There should be an option to collapse this and just have the tv by itself.
Why do we have to have media player snapped when we listen to music it ruins playing games full screen also the music stops if you come out of the media app I think all people will agree this what made the 360 a dare I say a better console.
Play music in the backround without having to snap it.
Music apps such as XBox music should be able to continue playing music after being unsnapped. Similar to how twitch continues to broadcast after being unsnapped.
Snap mode is nice, but it's ridiculous we can't play our own music like on 360 without being in Snap. Or having apps like Pandora running in the background.. I'd rather have full screen while playing games where I can pause the game and go into Snap mode to change songs.
I shouldn't have to lose a quarter of my playing screen to play music at the same time!
I switched from ps3 to xbox one expecting background music to be a feature on xbox one but it's not. I found it to be strange especially when xbox 360 has this feature. We need this feature on xbox one. Xbox one is meant to focus on entertainment and that's a key part of it in my eyes
This sites MOST asked for feature is the ability to run "snapped" stuff without it taking up half the screen. There must be 100,000 people who have liked or written their own requests about this.
Yet *Microsoft feels that we somehow wanted the ability to stream games to the PC?!?!?! Maybe 5 people asked for that crap. Those 5 people don't know what STEAM is.
We want a music player for the background.
PS4 is 10x better because it actually has that option already.
There is no reason that the Xbox 360 with as old and aged as it is has the ability to play and stream music IN THE BACKGROUND, an ability it has had sense its launch mind you and the Xbox one the newest in gaming technology is unable to do so without being snaped. That is just plain ridiculous. Im not going to be one of those people who say this one things ruins the console, that would be untrue. But it does take away from the experience and i would be lieing if i said it wasn't disappointing. As someone who spends a lot of time gaming and likes to listen to Music on occasion while doing so and also as someone who sits a distance away from their tv i would really, really like to see this feature come back, i know it works for some people but the snap mode taking up a 5th of my screen just to play some music doesn't cut it for me personally. I understand this is just a little thing on the back of huge amounts of problems that still need to be addressed on the Xbox one but i do hope this feature comes back at some point in the next few months and the process of working on it be started or atleast in the talks.
The "Audio Snap" is the ability to snap any app's audio output only. This would allow for things like music and youtube videos, and live TV audio to be played as background audio to the game, or other activity on the screen.
The Audio Snap is subject to the sound mixer like all other snaps.
Obtaining an audio only snap would be obtained through a new option in the snap center, or by snapping the app entirely, then unsnapping only the video in the app center.
The audio snap could also be obtained by using the voice command "xbox, snap _________ audio" or by retroactively by having that full app already snapped then using the command "xbox, unsnap video"
I think this is a neat way to frame something that people really want into something that doesn't undermine the "snapping" UI the team has been trying to build
I want the ability to snap any app, whether its Blu-ray, Netflix, YouTube and even Music. I listen to alot of music on YouTube and also listen to director's commentaries on DVD and Blu-ray I don't like to keep the app snapped, to the right side of my screen especially when playing Call of Duty or Halo.
Here's a mock up of what it could look like - https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4D_zUSgci4s/VMagaV1i7II/AAAAAAAAB74/XdvQRBtdM2o/s1600/SNAP%2BTO%2BBACKGROUND.png
Thanks for reading.
Just looking to have the ability to unsnap apps like Pandora and You tube, I'm grateful that we finally have Pandora on Xbox one but I'm just hoping to continue one up my gaming and entertainment system
Thanks for listening'
There are times where I would like to hear audio from a TV feed (either for a sports game or music) but would still love to have my full screen at my disposal.
The ability to "Collapse" an app instead of "Unsnapping" it would be extremely useful by allowing you to listen to Xbox Music or Pandora in the background while playing a game, because sometimes you just wanna jam out while clearing a server. This seems like it would be a fairly simple addition to Xbox One's constantly improving OS.
I would like to see the ability to hide snap and mute snap via voice commands.
For the Media player app, when you are streaming/playing music, I suggest that the snap be removed and have a much smaller tile for the playback and put in the corner of the user's choice. Thus allowing the music to be played while someone is playing a game in full screen.
Having to play a game with a down sized screen with the snap is aggravating. I am having to sit much closer to the screen to see, I don't like that.
Another possible idea, and much easier one, is to just let the media player app function in the background so you can play music and don't have to bother with the snap option while playing a game.
We Have media app but can't listen to our own music in the background while playing. Come on I could do this on my 360.
It would be truly awesome if you could use Pandora while playing a game so you could listen to your favorite stations while you plsy
I'm really surprised this hasn't been done yet. People would actually use the xbox music service if they had the functionality to game and keep their full screens. Snapping apps is cool, but having an app snapped while gaming is bad. Nothing beats being able to blast your favorite music while doing epic things in gaming, it feels empowering almost. Please get this feature in ASAP! One of the posts on this has over 15,000 votes and it has been that high for quite a while, how has this not been done yet?
Allow xbox music snap to be closed while playing but still have the music playing in the background...
I don't know why you took it out to begin with. It was an awesome feature and many gamers really want to see it return. Without it, playing games on the Xbox one can get really dull considering the PS4 has this feature. So please, add it back in so we the player base can indulge in quality gaming.
Make it so you can unsnap Pandora and still play music similar to unsnapping the party and still being able to take.
The title explains it, but please allow a music app to be playing music while whatever main app one is using is full screen.
Je voudrais écouter ma musique via le lecteur multimédia sans avoir à encrer le lecteur (qui réduit la taille du jeu sur l'écran), comme on pouvait le faire sur la xbox 360.
Putting us 100% in control in making clips, customizing from upload would be an awesome experience...even if it comes at a low price or making a platnimun membership for xbots like myself to stand out...#WhyIGame
PLEASE ALLOW US TO LISTEN TO MUSIC WHILE PLAYING COD, HALO.... (or whatever) FROM USB WITHOUT SNAPGUIDE! LIKE THE XBOX 360... The UI on the Xbox One is soooo frigging over engineered. Whoever came up with snap guide should be fired... ALSO If you wanna know what coolness Sony's about to release for the PS4, hit me back.... (Talking to you Mr. Xbox One Programmer)
when you playing a game and your bored and want to listen to music you should atleast be able to run pandora in the background so we can have it full screened while we play.
Now that Pandora is on Xbox One could we get an update that would allow us to unsnap the app and still have the music play in the background while gaming and surfing?...
Primarily and optimally, this feature should be available to all media centric apps. Example: Xbox Music, Pandora, or Xbox One Media player ( or any other app such as netflix, youtube, tv) should have an option to hide the snapped app, allowing for full screen gaming while listening to music.
This is absoloutely ridiculous that the One was designed with out this very popular and beloved function in mind. Its been over a year with no soloution, and Sony Playstation 4 allows for the BASIC feature.
Really, this is getting very annoying and the 15,668 people that are voting on this topic in the Apps section, which also happens to be the 1st on the list "Top Idea" are getting very annoyed. I know I am.
We want this functionality Xbox. Where are you on this Phil, Major Nelson???
I think we should be able 2 un-snap apps like youtube and vevo etc... and still have them play
Do what you need while snapped without having to keep it open.
Pandora can unsnap when you are playing games. So you can listen to your favorite station while gaming
One of the best features on the xbox 360, was the ability to play my own music while playing games. Queuing my mp3/flash drive/installed music to play over the game music was an amazing feature that cleverly muted during cut scenes. Several friends of mine purchased 360's after seeing this feature in action while playing at my place. I remember reading this feature was cut on the xbox one because of the kinect. Since you sell it separate now and I along with most of my friends don't own the kinect, could you please reinstate this great option on the xbox one. Thank you!
Add the ability to hide the music apps like Xbox Music, Pandora Radio, and music player. Having the side bar cut down on screen size is unnecessary when the snapped page doesn't show anything important.
With the Pandora app and Xbox Music app there should be a way to run them in background and still hear the music. That way gamers can listen to music from their collection while playing games. For instance listening Pandora stations while farming on Destiny, without having to minimize the screen by snapping Pandora in the side. Also if such music apps were running in the background users should be able to control the background media via the smart glass ability on their mobile device. Again while in game, one could skip songs or pause/play music using their smartphone.
I've been waiting for this feature since I bought the Xbox one months ago. This is one of my favorite capablilites of the Xbox 360... I could listen to music while gaming. I can't do that with my favorite games on the Xbox one. Not unless I want a quarter of my screen taken away. I like to listen to music while i grind on games or listen to some heavy metal during a boss fight or an action packed level. If this idea was implemented onto the xbox I'd be one seriously happy gamer/music lover and so would a lot of other Xbox users who like to game and listen to their own music.
Playing on the 360, one could start a playlist from the external storage while in the game. Using this list, the soundtrack but not the sound effects would typically be disabled in the game. Letting one enjoy the game with sound and their own favorite music to accompany it.
I feel this added a lot of replay value for times I wanted to play the same game a different way. Considering this is a UI/ code update I would imagine it is possible.
I have cancelled my xbox music pass for xbox one because I can't play games without the snap taking up part of my screen. It is extremely annoying! Good luck microsoft with your xbox music customers!
WIth the option to stream it instead of game soundtrack
the xbox music app needs the ability to unsnap to play custom music in game without losing full screen. thanks.
People really like to listen to their own music and play a game but we can only do it with the app snapped. You guys should makr it so we can unsnap the app and still listen to thenmusic while playing a game.
Allow us to listen to music from our devices and get rid of the snap garbage. Xbox and xbox 360 allowed us to install our music and listen to it in the background why would you take that away?
We should be able to multi task better by having the option to hide the snapped app, so for music and audio apps, a quick option for volume adjustment and hiding the snapped app so that we can game full screen while listening to music etc..
The Media Player needs to be able to be used while in Snap Feature, or at least play Music in the background.
On 360, you could play music in game without having to snap pandora to the side of the screen. This was a wonderful feature, and I am confused as to why it was removed for XB1. Please add this feature back in, games like Forza, COD, and Titanfall desperately need it!
Hide the snap for full screen gaming while playing audio from apps such as Xbox music, Media Player, Pandora, TV app. All apps that play audio should be able to do so in the background while gaming or using other apps.
Xbox Music app suggestion has over 15,500 votes.
Background music that plays through airmusic or a CD that is uploaded to the xbox one
There should be a mode for apps to be able to run them in the background, instead of having them snapped or when unsnapped suspended. This is interesting for apps like Xbox Music and Youtube. Instead of having them snapped in order to play music while doing something, having them run in the background would still allow you to do your main activity in a full-screen mode.
There already exist apps that do this (Twitch, Game DVR), so adding the same functionality to other apps would be great.
I don't understand why we can't listen to our music in the background when we could on 360? I want fullscreen gaming when I listen to my music!!! At least give us the option while in the snapped screen to push start and "play in background" hopefully you guys do add this feature in the future it's very important that you do!
Player music listering without setting the media player
Everyone loves good music for gaming! But no one wants there screen to get squished because we have to snap music!! Do music like it was on the 360, let me set a playlist and go back to full screen gaming. Duh
Plz let xbox music or music in general be played in the background (like the 360 does) plz Microsoft.
i love pandora use it on my ios and laptop..
while playing games it would be 100% better if we could use pandora as out music..
Allow pandora to play when you unsnap it. I dont want to have it snapped while im playing.
Make it accessible from Snap menu, with the ability to adjust volume, skip and select songs from an app (Pandora, XB Music, etc.) or media storage device
i want to be able to play pandora in the background and not have to have it snapped.
It would be awesome if I could play a game in full screen and listen to music.
We should be able to stream Pandora in the background while playing games, without having to have it snapped.
Like the 360, I want my xbox one to play whatever music i want in the background while im playing my games. No snap, the game should be full screen. People please vote on this, it needs attention. Who loved playing music in the background of their xbox 360 during a game????
Ever since I've had the Xbox one I've wanted to be able to listen to music through the console without having to snap the app. Let's face it nobody wants to cut their screen size down to listen to music. My idea is to add an option when you double tap "X" to have triple tap (or another method) to hide the app and force the app to play in the background.
I always loved to listen to music while playing cod on the 360. I can't do it on xbox one. I know you can snap the music app, but it takes up a quarter of your screen and it is hard to play like that. Microsoft, please fix this
Bring back custom soundtracks in the background and the chatpad.
I love that we can listen to music and game at the same time, but requiring the app to be snapped takes up a lot of the screen.
Why not add some music controls when you double tap the guide button on the controller? This could go to the left of the app switching controls. It could use buttons not being used on the controller or remote to work. If nothing else, please just let it play in the background and not require the app to be open or snapped.
I want to be able to play and listen at the same time but it is very annoying that Pandora has to be snapped to the side.
We finally got the pandora app but you can only listen while it's snapped. I think they should change it where you can listen to it while playing games without having to have it snapped on the screen. It should play in the background.
the xbox 360 had a perfect intergated snap like function which was activated when pressing the home button which allowed us to start parties, message people and play, this allowed us to game while listening to music in the background. Now we have to snap our music to listen to it which is quit annoying. please allow background music music again. thanks. ;)
I wish music from a USB drive (or other music you own) could be listened/streamed without having to SNAP to an app which disables the games full screen grandeur! I've seen other posts with similar feedback to this one and Microsoft has yet to develop a fix for this. We need an update because this new system should be able to do what it's predecessor did (and then some)!!!
I LOVE JAMMING TO MUSIC IN FULL SCREEN WHILE I KILL BAD GUYS/SCORE GOALS/RULE MORDOR/ETC....
Please can we have the music/removable media/media player app tweaked to run in the background, like the party app, for instance?
ATM, you can snap the media player app, with the penalty of running the game in a smaller screen, which degrades the gaming experience. X360 got it perfect!
hey, was just listening to music while playing dragon age, and really want to listening without having to snap it in all the time, thanks!
Hello, I need one option for disable view of snap and continue listening the music or talk in Skype ingame and only show me the game.
i am loving it how media is getting stuff the wasn't available on the 360, such as MKV (still needs work i might add). but we still can not have music playing in the background, its great you can have it snapped, but having something snapped is annoying at times. the codeing for it is already there in the party app an skype, both able to play in the background, there may be more that i am unaware of
Because your not bringing some features back from the Xbox 360 into the new Xbox one a lot of people are starting to talk around me. All i hear is that they don't want to get the new Xbox one or that they are switching to PS3 because of
-No background music
-no voice messages
-can't personalize your profile as much
I'm guessing everyone wanted more of a upgrade+new features than a whole new thing.
You need to bring some features back if not, not many people will buy later. yes its a new era of gaming and yes graphics count but the simple things really help our gaming experience.
I want to listen to my music in the background while playing a game like the 360 was able to... I shouldn't have to need this for a $400 console.
Be abale to unsnap the Youtube app and still listen to the audio. This woudl be very helpful for wanting to listen to music but not have my game shrinked. You could do this by.... having an option to keep the audio playing or unsnap completely.
Media player update is great thanks you...BUT still not able to play music in the BACKGROUND (without 'snap' taking up screen space) while playing a game. - this made the last generations amazing. really silly thing for you guys to not add in this current gen...PLEASE ADD IN NEXT UPDATE.
Thank you for adding the new media player but it sucks that I have to snap the app and lose half my screen just to play music. I don't have a 50 inch TV where I can spare a few inches.. I love how the 360 could play music in the background and also pause when an in game cut scene was playing..

Add custom soundtrack feature while playin a game on full screen!
I've owned an Xbox One since the day one release. Over the course of almost an entire year of frequent use of the console, I believe I was able to pinpoint a lot of the console's strengths and weaknesses. One of these strengths was the ability to seamlessly control and easily multitask various different functions with just a few button presses and voice commands. With these strengths in mind, I still feel there is much room for improvement. Below will be a short list of things that I personally would love to see added in future updates. If you agree with any of these ideas, or have any of your own, feel free to comment or upvote!
1. Add an Xbox Guide. I know this one has been posed before, but I cannot stress enough how vital this function is. Often times, I find myself a little annoyed when i'm in the middle of a game, and try to access my friends list to send a friend an invite to the game i'm in. I have to press the Xbox Home button, then scroll to my right, then click my friends list. After waiting a few seconds, it loads, and then I have to select my friend. Wait a couple more seconds, then invite them to game. Afterwards, I have to press the home button and go back to my game. It may sound like an unreasonable complaint at first, but over the years of being an Xbox owner, I have been very spoiled. I should be able to just double tap the Xbox Home button to bring up a Guide just like the one in the Xbox 360 (with the addition of a snap option on the guide) without having to jump out of the game and into the main menu. Achievements, Music, Settings, Friends, Party Chat, the whole shebang. Xbox's greatest strength has always been its easy-to-use interface, and I find it a little sad when I find that my Xbox 360 does a few simple things better than my Xbox One.
2. The ability to play music with the Xbox Music app or the Windows Media Player app in the background without having to have the app snapped open. I know this can fall in line with the previously mentioned Xbox Guide idea, but in a way this feels separate. I like to listen to music when I play games at times, but I do not like playing games with the app snapped open. Why can't I just play music in the background, in a similar way the party chat can still be used when it isn't snapped?
3. The ability to set a reminder on TV shows with the Xbox One Guide. I am actually one of the people who have my cable box hooked up to my Xbox One, and use the Xbox TV app frequently. I also play a lot of games, and frequently forget to watch some of my TV shows due to the excitement of online multiplayer matches or engaging single player stories. Oh how wondrous life would be if there were somehow a way to be alerted of the new episode of The Walking Dead while slaying covenant forces in Halo: MCC! I've always prayed for a feature like this since the Xbox 360 era, but now with the Xbox One Guide, the possibility seems just over the horizon!
These are just a few ideas i've come up with in this short time. A lot of my complaints since the day one release have been addressed since then, and some features have been added that have even surprised me. The Friend Feed and Snap Tool have been great jumps forward in the right direction.
Again, if you agree with my post in any aspect, or have ideas of your own, please comment and upvote! I can't wait to see how this feedback site will help improve our overall experience, and look forward to seeing what our collectively creative minds can accomplish in the future!
Give the music app the ability to hide while you're using other apps or playing a game, the way you can to the party app. I don't like it taking up one third one third of my screen
Dont know why a year out we still do not have this feature. All music apps, the media center app, as well as TV should be able to continue the sound in the background while gaming, browsing the net, or using other apps. Either do this with a "hidden" snapped app, or through new background tasking capabilities.
Enough is enough! the Sony camp has this, why not us?
Stream music library using media app during a game without displaying the snap pane. So game can be played in full screen with mixed in game audio and personal music. This was a feature on both the first XBox and the 360, why not have this on the XBox One?!?!
I would love to play music in the background while I play my games and do other things at the same time. That would be a great feature to implement in the next future update you come out with. Its already possible to do this on the 360 so why not the xbox one? Hope to see this soon and thanks for taking time out to read this!
Allow you to play your spotify playlists in the background while playing any of your games.
Alright so the implication of the DLNA playback and USB playback was pretty awesome. Now I can listen to my whole music library on the Xbox One, but it has room for more potential. My idea is to be able to play your music in the background(without being snapped) while playing games or just exploring all the awesome things this console has to offer; and being able to download the music directly to the console's hard drive. One of the most requested things is this feature, it has over 14,000 votes, I'm not sure if you guys took that into notice so I just wanted to spread the word.
I would like for music to play in the background while I play my game without the xbox musuc app being snapped... sometimes its distracting and quite frankly not needed while im gaming.... if I want to change tge playlisy or something I could just snap it back and change it and unsnap and im good to go! Thanks
Instead of having media player snapped to listen to music we could unsnap it, continue listening and enjoy full screen gaming while listening to music.
Sorry for the english, I am portuguese
i think it would be great if you could make the xbox one have free xbox music acces since we have paid for gold and the console. you should also be able to rip CDs and have music playing without an app being snapped. basically bring back the way the 360 did music. the 360 did many great things needed
on xbox one
Please let Xbox Music and Media Player play the music in the background without being snapped, like 360...
@XboxSupport1 it would be nice if Xbox Music would stop flipping Streaming Music toggle to ON after every update http://t.co/6K6xD3MG1B
It would be cool if Xbox could bring back stream music in background so we wouldnt have to snap the music app everytime.
- "Xbox Return to game" Would be a good feature cause sometimes i accidently click on different games whenever i go to Home losing game progress.
- Increase Party Size: When i first had the Xbox One it showed you can have 32 player parties what ever happen to that? 12 would be reasonable
- NBA App: It's NBA season where is an NBA Gametime App?
- Voice Messages: Whatever happen to Voice messages? It would be cool to bring that back.
- Arcade Titles: More Arcade titles when i had 360 it came with Arcade titles like Hexic, UNO and card games. Arcade titles can past time i enjoyed them Undertow should make a comeback along with N+
Don't gete wrong the snap is cool and all ,but let's face it WHEN PLAYING DRIVING GAMES ,FORZA 5 ,FORZA HORIZON 2,WE NEED FULL SCREEN AND THE ABILITY JUST LIKE ON THE 360 BABE ,TO PLAY OUR BACKGROUND CUSTOM MUSIC PERIOD ,NOT JUST THROUGH THE SNAP FEATURE .having anything snapped on the screen while you play the game driving games etc..just takes away from the experience ..
This is the final thing that would made my/and others experience more closer to being the best multimedia Console, please make this happen,im a loyal customer!
We all want it, so why not bring it. You've had long enough to bring this feature to us (without snapping). This needs to be added with the next update, no excuses.
We need the ability to save music from a CD to the HDD and intergrate them in the games (custom radio station in FH2 for exemple)
Xbox 360 is able to play MP3 on USB on background quem ia playing GAMES but Xbox One not, then why not do this in xbox One GAMES. Cause Forza 5 not had an playlist to all players like.
I know there is a media player now but i liked to listen to my music whilst playing games. I want to listen to my music totally in the background when playing. If it is introduced i dont want to keep snap open to listen to music. Also i want to rip my cds to the hard drive. Considering xb1 is next gen it seems to lack so many things we loved the 360 for. I find that quite strange.
Make it possible to play games full screen while also listening to music.
Basically, make it possible to hide a snapped app without closing the app, making it run on the background.
The abilty to listen to music through xbox music\ other devices such as iphone, android and usb
Bring back the ability to play music in the backround! This was one of my favourite things the xbox 360 did its so easy aswell just let us either put in cd's and store them into an app or just simply plug a device via usb!??? Simple thanks! Ciao!
Recently we were able to play music with USB devices and with our own DLNA servers. I'm glad that it can be snapped but it's way too slow, it drops frames so much when changing a song. That's not the main bother, they should add something like "background music" where anywhere you go, your music plays without being snapped. It's a hassle trying to enjoy your favorite music and playing your favorite game at the same time with your music being constantly snapped. I think it was a feature on the 360, that should be brought back. I'm pretty sure it can, you guys never fail to impress me. Thanks!
we asked for music and you gave us music not exactly like we wanted it. everyone loved from the 360 that you could play your music from a thumb drive a external hdd and mp3 players during games in the background. could you bring this back you could let us use snap to change the track or artist even with kinect or smartglass and give people a additonal choice of using pandora or last fm also in the background
To be able to have music playing from a USB or CD playing in the background while playing a game but not to have the music player snapped while in the game and music playing!
I would like to be able to listen to my music without having to snap the screen.
This was one of the BEST features of 360, please allow this for the Xbox One! I really enjoyed playing my own music while playing certain games and I know that this can be done with the new media app october update but I don't like having to snap the app just to do it
The 360 had it, and now even the PS4 will get it. I am talking about playing your own music while in a game...
Of course you can sorta do it by snaping the mediaplayer, but who on earth wants 1/3 of his screen occupied and his game shrunken down?
All we need is an update for the mediaplayer that allows it to play music even if it is not snaped, like the 360 mediaplayer.
It can't be that hard right? The 360 had it, the PS4 will get it soon and even the PS3 and Vita can do it to some degree.
PLZ Microsoft, bring back this beloved feature of the Xbox 360
I miss the playing my music on the XBOX one. I loved playing a game and listening to my music.
I want to lessen to Xbox Music with out it having to be snapped.
If Xbox introduced apps like Pandora or IHeartRadio, etc....I would love to have the ability to play one of them in the background while playing games. I personally like to have music playing in the background regardless when I play, but it would be so much easier to snap it in real fast switch song and get right back into the game. Even the ability to plug in my phone, and listen to the playlist that already exists on there would be amazing. I feel like this would be a good feature for the next update to the Xbox One.
Anytime I want to play my own soundtrack or playlist while I game on xbox one, one third of the screen is taken up by a picture of the artist currently playing. I don't need to see who is singing, it really diminishes the gameplay for me and as a result I tend to buy games for ps4 so that I can easily access my music and play it over any game without screen size penalty.
Support background music without snap the app of Xbox music thanks.
Have a background music option, even a small rectangle in a corner like skype does on the PC showing current artist and track
It will be cool to have music playing in the background while we play our games without having to as Xbox music snap to the side taking up screen space. when you can have it playing in the background and when want to quickly add is just double tap the xbox button then press Y to get a media play controls pop up and select prev, next or play/pause the song or this has the media control show up every time music playing in the background.
just want to play music in the background and a easy way to control it.
Microsoft, you are doing a really good job with your update support. So I have got more improvements to check out. It would be great if we could listen to music in the background. For example you can integrate all apps with music and all upcoming who have to do with music( Xbox Music, Media-Player, Tunein,Vevo) It just annoying that I have to snap it and play with a smaller screen. Please make this feature come true. Keep up that great work and bring us more features making the Xbox One better and better!
Have Xbox music run without being open in snap
I absolutely love the XB1 but there is important features that the system lacks that Xbox 360 has and some of the ideas that i'm addressing here have been mentioned by many people but I just got some additional ideas to do with what many have put. The media player is okay kinda.. and it works well with DLNA, i love it but the problem that many people are annoyed about is the fact that you can't play music in the background while in the game, a lot of people love listening to music from their computers and playing their game at the same time.. This is evident from all the people on Xbox 360. Also I think that when you play music or videos, there should be a widget at the bottom of the dashboard (similiar to what the Xbox Music app has on Windows 8 when you show up the charms bar while playing a song, the ability to change tracks rather than going on the app) I think this would fill up some space on the dashboard and make it easier to change tracks, adjust volume or even see what is being played in the background rather than switching between apps to do the simplest thing as changing a track. Xbox 360 has the ability to change tracks and select music while you play the game by simply switching the tab on the Guide so I think that if Microsoft could implement that and have (Now Playing: -) I think that would be beautiful. I love the suggestions here on the forum, a lot of user's would love it if these key things were implemented and well done everyone! Let's hope that Microsoft doesn't let us down :) they got a lot of potential to make XB1, the most greatest entertainment system in the world!
Microsoft , you are doing a really good job with your update support. And I have more improvements for you. Please allow us to hear music in the background. Its just so annoying that I have to snap it while I am playing. This makes the screen smaller. But I want to play on fullscreen and listen to music at the same time. It would be great if you integrate this feature on every music app and for every upcoming( Xbox Music, Media-Player, Tunein for radio).
Please make this feature come true. However, keep up with that great support. Every month the Xbox One is getting better and better with those updates.
It would be awesome if we could play personal music while playing Forza. Heck, I wouldn't even mind if we could somehow run Xbox music in the background while the game is playing.
It's nice that you can have it snapped now but while I'm playing game I would like to have the full screen while listing to my music.
I would like to listen to music without the screen being snaped.
would be great if we could play our own music in the background of our xbox games without having to keep the music app snapped (so we dont lose screen space)
Let the midea player be able to play background music while playing a game and while being unsnapped
Certain music related apps should be able to run in background while playing the game. Like Xbox music, media player, and audio cd player. (speaking of digital games when comes to the audio cd player app.
And future music related apps like Last FM and so on
Just like the Xbox 360 but improved and complete
The Xbox one haves 8 GB of ram more than enough
5 for video games and 3 for the software
That's still more than enough
Because Microsoft aren't listening to us on this point, I'm going to write it again. MUSIC, IN THE BACKGROUND, ASAP. Or bye bye my Xbox one
An App that allows you to play music in the background, like the Xbox 360 (the predecessor and LESS ADVANCED console to the Xbox One) can.
Basically it would be exactly like the current Media Player App, except it wouldn't take up half the damn screen in 'snap' mode....
Come on, guys, wake up, would you?
Change the Media Player App so that in 'snap' mode it doesn't show up on the side of the screen. As it is it takes up 1/4 of the screen. This is ridiculous.
If you did this then it would be possible to play music whilst playing games just like on the Xbox 360 (You know, the Xbox 360? The console that is supposed to be the PREDECESSOR to the Xbox One, and yet still unaccountably has more features, and what features it does have in common with the One, it does BETTER? That console?)
I honestly cannot believe A) that this feature wasn't even INCLUDED in the Xbox One to begin with, and B) that in over a YEAR it hasn't been implemented.
I mean for god's sake, is it a bunch of clowns at Microsoft running the Xbox One or something?
Ok, if it's REALLY too much trouble to implement, then at least tweak the existing 'Media Player' app so that you can use it in the 'snap' mode WITHOUT it taking up the side of the damn screen!
Come on, guys, this isn't rocket surgery.
Custom soundtracks with no snap! We should be able to listen to our own music while playing games like Forza or Gta,or anygame I choose to play without half a screen.I subscribe to xbox music and I am forced to play on half a screen .Come on Microsoft, also let us save our own music to our hard drive if we choose to do so just like xbox360 let us.
Give us the ability to play our music in the background, wherever that being the Xbox Music or the Media Preview app. So we can pick our songs etc from either app and unpin it and let us continue to listen when we play a game for example I still want to listen while I play throughout the UI. I don't know if theres a thread already about this so i'm just posting a new one if there is.
We need to be able to unsnap the music app while gaming & listen to any music we choose xbox music or our personal. Thats your biggest problem right now... Your move Microsoft you know we got to have it. We wont stop untill we get it..
Have xbox music playing background not snap while playing games
Its simple. Players like me who use Xbox Music (especially those with a music pass) love music. We also love our games. So lets set it up so you can have music playing in the background without snapping. Snapping is very annoying and takes away from the game.
like the 360 allowed for background music play. allow the xbox music app to play music in the background without it being snapped.
Give us the ability to have Xbox Music play in the background without having to snap the app. Having music snapped takes a large portion of the screen and is really inconvenient to those who play on a smaller screen, or who enjoy playing with the full screen. Playing your favorite game and listening to your favorite music at the same time is something that I know many of us miss from the Xbox 360.
First of all sorry if its in the wrong section.
On Xbox 360 there was USB support for music. Using the Xbox menu you could select the music you wanted and then do what ever you want while the music plays. The only downside was loading the music on the USB was very slow!
I see that Xbox one has not put the ability to have music via USB. This was great news, I went to use it and was rather disappointed, to find its basically useless. Snap is a great feature but can get in the way, having a way to run snap in the background would be great, this means that you could still talk to people on Skype while playing a game, or listen to music. I know people will then say "this will slow the connection down" but thats their choice whether they want to use it or not.
Xbox music really gets me. You pay to listen to music on the Xbox which is a good idea, but when you go of the app it stops. Having background music would be great as it means people can make use of the service a lot more, I got rid of it because of this issue, why pay when I will not be able to get the full benefit, as most of the time using it will be when playing games.
I hope you can take notice of this and try find a way around it. Its possible, as the 360 has the feature, hopefully you can add this extra in just like you did with having the ability to play music from USBs.
Have like xbox music and cd player and media player have a option to run background instead of being snapped. Perfect for the one
We need the feature to listen Music in the Background while playing!
volume Settings for game and media Player to adjust it!
and please, dont dock it on the site ..
I do not want to play on a smaller picture just listen to music,
I would like the opion to hear the audio off snapped apps but it not on the screen. Example, listen to pandora from browser without it snapped on screen.
It would be great if music was able to be played in the background for instance if xbox music could be played in the background while playing a game instead of taking up screen space.
Snap sucks its a stupid gimmick that realistically no one is using. It has destroyed our ability to play music in the background. Who wants to snap the stupid app and lose 25 percent of your screen? Who really is watching tv or browsing the internet while playing a game? Not me and im guessing not many others. This system was so poorly designed! All i want is the xbox one to just do what my 360 did perfectly! Music needs to play in the background and have a volume control! Get rid of the stupid snap trash!
Make music apps like pandora/spotify/iheartradio/sound cloud that we can listen to in the background of games/tv/internet explore etc.....
How about giving us the ability to listen to Xbox Music while in game without having it snapped. If it could be run in the background like Twitch does, with Artist and Song ghosted pop-up lettering on track change. My wife would love you if I wasn't having to blare my music to be able to hear it with my Turtle Beach X07s on with friends talking and Forza cars revving in my ears. This was my favorite feature of the 360. I am a paid subscriber to Xbox Music and think this would greatly enhance my subscription. Thanks!
Playing music while playing games like on the Xbox 360 I miss having my own music while racing or shooting
With the new media players release fast approaching, and the preview already available (for the Xbox Preview Dashboard app holders) it has come to my attention that us (the users) can't listen to our music in the background. This would be a great feature to add to the app.
I just buy a XBOX ONE and it is awesome!!!!!
I just was very surprise and disappointed that when you run a game you cant listen in the background to your own musics or to do that you need to Snap Xbox Live Music on the side, My suggestion is to have the same features as the Xbox 360 for music that you can play games and listen your own music without Snap it.... It is very annoying to play a game in a 3/4 screen instead of a full screen just because you want to listen your own musics!!
Will appreciate that you will upgrade this features at my view is a very important feature for a lot of Gamers!!
Play music using full screen while listening to it on the back ground
Music will playing in the background while playing your favorite games without having the music snapped so you can play you game in fullscreen.
Cds should play in background and mp3s should be riped or stored on system. Themes could also be added but not as important.
Music being played from the play music app runs in the background, so it will play over games and other apps being run.
I plan on using snap mode a lot more when Minecraft comes out for Xbox One, but I don't want the game screen to shrink. There should be an option to hide the snapped app right next to the option to put it in full screen. When a snapped app is hidden, you can still hear it, but you can't see it until you double-tap the home button or say "Xbox snap" again. This would be very nice for when I'm listening to music channels on TV while playing a game.
Remember u could install a cd on xbox360 and play it on you system and play games and your music played in the background please bring this feature to xboxone it was the best if your with me vote if not comment and tell me why
Give us our music back!!! As awesome as Xbox One is (and I do love it! Day One buyer and everything!!!) I really miss not loading my CD's of my favourite tracks onto the system to listen to while doing other stuff on my Xbox or whilst playing games!!! Please please please bring this feature back! It was one of the things I loved about the old consoles Xbox and Xbox 360 and it's sorely missed on the new box of awesomeness that is Xbox One!! Give us it back please!!!
I'm very saddened to see that other less important features are being added ahead of a great feature we were already given in the Xbox Ones predecessor. I.E. Xbox 360
I am even more dissapointed that the community is letting this be swept under the rug, there are three major problems with not having these two features in this generation console.
We have already had this freedom in previous generations at less of a cost. When you pay more money for higher quality goods, you don't expect the more advanced version to have less than the version before it. This console should be All the things gamers loved in Xbox 360 and MORE not some of the things gamers loved and some new things.
These features are what really made Xbox 360 a great gaming and entertainment system, being able to blend your games with your music and play games to your own tune. That console didn't even revolve around being called an entertainment system and more around a gaming console. With the Xbox One this feature should be a given.
Competitors (PS4) now have this feature after seeing how well it was accepted with the Xbox 360 and considering the console has lost this feature this can also be seen as an advantage for them now.
I do not know the reason for never putting this feature into the console, but if it boils down to wanting people to use the Xbox Music Pass then that is a completely unacceptable tactic. The only reason for the silence on this subject is either that they obviously have not heard the cries of the community yet or they are just leaving us in the dark on the matter.
Bring back being able to put music on your xbox one from your phone. And able to plug your phones into your xbox to add music as well. Make the home screen options like the 360 where you can stream music during gameplay instead of snapping it as well
Similar to the Xbox 360's feature, it would be great to be able to play audio in the background without having to snap an audio player, unnecessarily losing screen space.
sound during navigation in the menu
Yes you can snap Xbox music, or audio CD player to listen to music, but It significantly reduces gameplay screen size. I'd like to be able to listen to music freely on the background without having to snap, as easily as it was on 360. And also be able to rip songs from CDs and store them on Xbox one.
Many Xbox users are sick of not being able to listen to Xbox Music while unsnapping, what's the point of listening to an ACDC song while you're taking down a Titan if it takes quarter of the screen? There should be a way to listen to Music while it's running in the background.
I really think this feature is an absolute must for coming updates. We were able to play music in the background on the 360, and I see no reason why the Music app must remained snapped while playing a game. A simple option to allow us to play Xbox Music in the background would be greatly appreciated.
I like the snap feature, but it takes away from the experience, the music app should be able to play music in the background, and maybe a triple press of the home button swaps between the current and last thing running. And also, a Pandora app would be really nice
Allow us to unsnap Xbox Music and music to continually play in the background
AAC, MP3, MKV & MP4 Support + Background play on cd or ext hdd
watch espn app with auto bandwidth adjustments or bandwidth setting you can change
The Party and music apps take up a quarter of the screen and is rather frustrating. These apps should naturally be background applications like they are in the Xbox 360. I have lost interest with using the apps while playing games. It would be nice to listen to music and play a game without losing that quarter of the screen. Possibly adding a media tab and social tab to the home screen for better navigation for music and talking to friends.
It would be amazing if my music could still play with out me having to have the app snapped. The 360 could do it so I am a little disappointed that the one can't run the music app in the background.
We should be able to listen to music while playing a game without losing half our screen and half our audio. This feature on the Xbox 360 worked next to perfectly by replacing the game's soundtrack with your own. Why change it? It should have been made better, not worse--actually, its not worse. Its nonexistent.
Xbox snap. I don't see why one 3rd of my screen is taken up to show a picture of a cd... Xbox 360 had it nailed when it simply played in the background! Give me back my screen and let me enjoy my music!
Allow media apps to run in the background (unsnapped, but still function) . For example, being able to play music via the Xbox Music app (whether DLNA or through the service) and still see the full screen of the primary app launched.
This ability was built into the 360, and network sharing made it easy to play music while playing games.
Listen to your own music either via DLNA or usb while playing games. without it being snapped at the side.
Listen music in the interface but our music not xbox music
With the addition of external support, reinvent the Audio CD player app into a system music app like the current one on the Xbox 360. On Xbox One, there are some songs that are not on Xbox Music that users want to listen to while playing. Also add background support so that music plays in the background AND games can be played in fullscreen. (Can also add this feature to Xbox Music as well)
Something like the 360 where you could listen to music without annoying snap on your screen .
I'll keep this short. The custom soundtrack feature was one of the first features available on Xbox 360 at launch, and as someone who loves playing racing games and fighting games, the ability to do so to my own collection of music stored on my PC, iPod or DLNA-compatible smartphone or other device has become indispensable. I NEED this feature on Xbox One, and it will literally be a deciding factor as to whether I pick up Forza Horizon 2 (or any other racing game) on Xbox One this September, or Project CARS or The Club on PS4 in October and November. Just give us what we already have on Xbox 360 and I'll be more than happy, but if you want to make it even better, I'm not going to complain.
[Mod Edit: DLNA support has been added through the Media Player App. This idea has been modified to cover the Custom Soundtrack suggestion. The original title was "Please bring Xbox 360's Custom Soundtrack and DLNA capabilities to Xbox One"]
By the way, please don't pull a Sony and simply integrate Xbox Music like they did with Music Unlimited. Online music services are great, but their libraries are limited and they have a tendency to glitch out. No one wants to stop playing and exit their game in order to troubleshoot connection problems with their online music service. Nothing's wrong with including Xbox Music as an option, but PLEASE let us use our local music, either through internal/external storage or DLNA. Thanks!
The ability to snap apps playing music to the background, both music apps like Xbox Music and the new music apps coming soon, and IE so you can play music from Pandora, Soundcloud, etc. in the background without having it taking up screen space.
I would like it if we were able to stream music from another device whilst still using Xbox One features, the way the music player in the 360 guide works.
Would like to see audio streaming make a return with the xbox one without the need of an app being snapped. Stream MP3's from a local pc or xbox one in the background.
Basically be nice to be able to rip our CDs onto the xbox one or stream our own music so we can play music in the background while playing games
With the XBOX 360, you could select a custom soundtrack in game that would replace the game's OST. This is not possible to do on the Xbox One, outside of snapping another media app (which does not necessarily mute the OST from the game). It would be great to have the 360 custom soundtrack functionality on the XBOX One. This was one of my favorite 360 features (to be able to listen to ANYTHING on ANY game - which you could not even do on the PS3!) and I would *LOVE* to see this implemented on the Xbox ONE OS.
Currently the Xbox One Xbox Music application only works while snapped, there should be an option for applications in general (especially music applications) to run in the background so that gamers can play their music while gaming without taking up part of the screen.
It would be cool if the Xbox One music app allowed music to be played without being snapped.
The 2016 Xbox One Summer Update brings us Background Music on your console! Apps are now being released or updated to support this feature. Groove, the Simple Background Music Player and Cast now all support the ability to play music or podcasts in the background on your Xbox One consoles. Additional apps will support this functionality as they either update their existing apps to be UWP applications or ship brand new apps via the store.
If I can stream lossless files from an external HD device as background music then that's it.
You don't need to rip cds if you have a computer. Buy an external cd drive and rip your music to a computer. I use acurate rip and rip lossless WAV files.
How do you guys forget about features that were on 360? No ripping audio from CDs? Surely it can't be hard to replicate something that's already been done. I must be missing something, did you truely think people are going to purchase music digitally from terrible apps, that they already own? Pay a subscription so I can listen to music that's not even listenable while playing games, unless it takes half my screen away ..
Mission not accomplished(or completed)!!!
Pandora still doesn't work and we need something better than the simple background music player! I really hope you guys got your act together for scorpio and that it has these most wanted features from the get go. Otherwise it will be doa! With all things said I love the Xbox platform and appreciate all the hard work the update devs have done!
You suck Ybarra... You should have left with Mattrick, the two of you should get together and start your own company.. He can be the ideas guy, and you can be the tinkerer.. Maybe the both of you can pitch your ideas on Shark Tank...
Whatever you guys decide to build together, just make sure it doesn't multitask, that's just something that neither of you should ever try again. Obviously, between the two of you, the mental bandwith for that sort of operation just does not exist.
Hey it's been real everyone. Please friend me on xbox, maybe we can have a party sometime and talk about how ridiculous and *** the new barebones background music functionality is.
After searching through the site and not being able to find this thread, I realize at this point it's days are probably numbered..
Microsoft and Xbox Team, you really let us down, after over two years a bare bones solution that requires all kinds of adjustments to get the sound balance right, no intelligence what-so-ever was baked into this functionality.
I'm enjoying the great games on my 3ds and am looking forward to the NX and PS4. You clowns really deserve all these negative comments. FAIL Microsoft FAIL
By the way, where the heck is Pandora that you promised would be coming in days?? Still can't download it.. and now in the completed note left by Mister Retr0 you don't even mention it.
Ohh that's because Windows App developers barely exist and other services don't want to waste the time and energy to recreate UWP...
Just dump the app platform all together and utilize and Android solution.. You lost the battle with the apps. I have never experienced more buggy pieces of garbage then when I use a windows "App"
"Background music is on that list. Windows 10 will help us as we think about what's the right away to deliver that. And we want to do it in a way that surprises fans." - Mike Ybarra, 2015
What a crock of horse ***!
You're a god damn LIAR, Ybarra.
Where was this "Surprise", Ybarra? How in the name of GOD can you call this pathetic implementation of 'Background Music' something special? This is about as bare-bones as you can get!
What were you clowns DOING in the last year???! How the hell could THIS be the result of 1 year of hard work at ensuring the feature didn't feel basic or rushed? This couldn't BE more basic or rushed!
Utterly god damn pathetic.
"We could have released something that was medium-quality. As we look at background music and we figure out where where does it fit and what's the technical solution that makes sense, we want to make sure it's something that pleases everybody. And certainly it's on the list; certainly we're looking at it, and it's something we'd all like to have as well."
Nothing but lies.
You show nothing but callous disrespect and contempt for your customers, and you wonder why people are switching to Playstation in droves.
It really does seem like Microsoft are going to just leave 'Background Music' in this *** poor state. As far as they're concerned it's done, they don't even recognize that it doesn't even begin to meet standards.
I am really sick of MS completely ignoring these 'suggestions', and on the rare occasions they actually do something about them, they implement them in their most poor and basic fashion, and then slap "COMPLETED" on them, when they are anything but.
Mister Retr0, take that GOD DAMN 'COMPLETED' sign down, this is NOT 'completed' in any sense of the word.
200 tracks - two hundred GOD DAMN TRACKS is not acceptable. It's not even close to being acceptable. They're also not organized in any sane way.
It wouldn't be so bad if there was even an indication that they're working on something better - an "Advanced Background Music Player" app, for instance - but all we've heard since the beginning of August is how the feature is already "here!" and that's that. It's like they're not even aware how *** off people still are.
I have so had enough of this.
Not completed as stated above. Rip audio cd to hard drive and play from usb is missing. Why you cannot do it right like my beloved 360 ??
TOO BAD THEY FORGOT TO ADD A VOLUME CONTROL FEATURE IN THE APP!!! DUH!!! WHAT A BUNCH OF DUMB ***!!!
This shouldn't be marked as completed until the official Media Player app supports background music and we can rip our own CDs to the HDD.
@MaudibArachis - I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. We do NOT yet have the feature we should have had on Day One; we are still unable to play OUR OWN music from our own USB hard drives without being limited to a pathetic 200 tracks. Groove and Pandora require subscriptions.
Also, the feature is so bare bones it doesn't mute the in-game music of any games, we have to do it manually ourselves.
We also can't install our own music to our Xbox's hard drive, but that's obviously a lost cause and never going to happen at this point.
So no, as far as I'm concerned, MS is nowhere NEAR to providing this very BASIC feature, even after 3 years, even after announcing 3 weeks ago that it was 'finally here everyone!'.
Also, you're wrong about Pandora; it is NOT available to 'all Xbox One users' - it's available to all Xbox One users in the United States....Though why anyone would want to use that piece of crap app is beyond me.
As for a movie about the disaster that was the Xbox One's development, couldn't agree more. I think Ricky Gervais could do a good job as Don Mattrick, though the performance of an incompetent boss delusional about his own popularity who has no idea what he's doing would be too close to David Brent, as Don Mattrick is about as close as you can get to a real life David Brent.
Kevin Spacey would do a good job capturing the sociopathic narcissism.
Will Arnett would be great at portraying Mattrick's sheer idiocy.
I really cannot decide! :D
Will Media Player have this function? I don't use Groove at the moment and would really like to just play my tunes from my USB :)
I still can't use... can anyone yet?
Well, according to this article, Pandora UWP is now live and available for download to all Xbox One users (not just preview members):
I guess this is it, I am assuming that Groove (now being more stable and working well) is close to a release to all users, and this basically sums it up.
We now have the feature that we should have had Day One. Three god damn years later they finally got it done. So I guess at this point I have nothing left to complain about in regards to this thread.
I will miss stopping in almost daily to check it's contents. I got the biggest kick out of reading all the comments and participating in a group of 25,000 to get Microsoft to wake up and fix the problem.
I will however, be very cautious in the future when buying their products, researching them thoroughly before committing to a platform, after 360, it didn't cross my mind that they would have gone backwards so much. I pretty much thought MS had the console hardware creation down pat.
I won't let them live it down either. I will always tell this story, the travesty of Xbox One, to anyone willing to listen.
Actually, with all the crap & garbage coming out of Hollywood these days, maybe they can make a movie about Xbox One, like the Steve Jobs movie and can start behind the backdrop at the venue before the big product reveal with Don Mattrick toasting Steve Ballmer with a glass of expensive Champaign... and then.... the flashbacks where they systematically fire the old team and *** the 360 of it's features, add a Kinect, some ram, a 1080p capable card, and call it the "One"..
Anyone know who can play Don Mattrick and Steve Ballmer?? Please name some suggestions and add to this little screenplay.. Maybe it can become a thing? I really hope an MS Xbox insider will release a memoir about this, I'd read it!!
Day 10 and Simple Background Music Player has just had an update - and STILL it can't play more than 200 *** songs!!! What the *** are the developers even DOING?! Why can't they see the GLARING obvious problems with their software instead of pissing about with things no one cares about?!
I said 'f-it' and bought a bluetooth stereo, so now I can play and choose songs from my phone and play xbox full screen with no interruptions. Works better than I imagine the background music eventually ever will. Such a ridiculous feature not to have for so long.

My tracfone lets me listen to pandora while playing full screen games on it, but my Xbox one can't.
9 days and STILL 'Simple Background Music Player' can't handle more than 200 tracks....
This really needs to be brought to the default Xbox Media Player app and not just Groove.
8-10 Preview Update seems to alleviate the glaring issues with Groove. The guide controls now work consistently, and the app in general is far more responsive and has not crashed since the update.
Still unable to download Pandora...
