HD Audio pass through the HDMI IN port

DTS-HD and DD True HD output through the HDMI IN port

The situation is this: you have that Xbox One S and are enjoying 4k. You also want the highest quality of audio. But most receivers dont support 4k.

This means you gotta either choose between high quality video or high quality audio. (DTS-HD and DD True HD)

A lot of people dont use the HDMI in port as of now. Wouldnt it be nice to make a software update that allows the output of HDMI audio trough the HDMI in port?

This way people are able to enjoy both the best quality video and audio.

Can this feature please be added to the X Box One X/S! This would be a great improvement over optical audio allowing for next generation audio codecs to be fully utilized, and at the same time cutting down on audio latency/lip sync issues by bypassing ARC.

I don’t know if an update like this is possible, but I’d be amazing if it was! Come on Microsoft team, help some Audiophiles out!!

HDMI splitters don't necessarily work for what the Xbox is capable of, like 4k, 60fps and HDR. A whole host of issues.

You need to offer dual HDMI out. 1 can be limited to audio only, so long as it supports Atmos. Running video though a receiver requires you to buy a brand new 4k compatible receiver, which isn't even relevant to what you need a receiver for. On top of this it can add lag.

Software update cannot change HDMI versions or add this. It's a passthru.

Just buy an HDMI splitter/repeater, try monoprice, com

Exactly, I made the same suggestion in another post. At the moment, you'd get a better picture with the Xbox One S, but you'd downgrade the sound as you're forced to use the optical output for "last gen sound" - I'd have to buy a completely new amplifier or receiver to simply retain DTS-HD and DD True HD.....that I already have with my old Xbox One.
