- If you buy a magazine, there's more ads than actual content.
I don't think the marketing is at a point where it impacts the experience. There have been a couple of garbage ads appear but mostly its video games and movies etc... Stuff I actually want anyway. Marketing is a revenue stream that keeps Xbox Live at a low price. I'd rather Microsoft make money from marketing companies and publishers rather tahn increasing the cost of my Xbox Live!
Ads are distracting and in my opinion bad for the overall experience.

I agree that if we pay for xbox live, we shouldn't see ads. At the very least make an "opt out" option.
I'm forced to see an anti-vaping ad, and I find it highly offensive. Vaping has allowed me and many other people I personally know to quit smoking which has been beneficial to my health. This is of course my own personal opinion on the topic, but it's no different than running political ads. This is unacceptable and has no place or relevance to a gaming platform. I wouldn't mind so much if these ads were just suggesting other games to try, at least it would be in the same scope.

Exactly! We don't want ads to show up.

I've always found this annoying as wel... At the very minimum, give us paying members a choice!

I pay for live, I don't need the same *** ad for the newest POS game or movie or whatever on my damn screen.. at least make an opt out of ads options
I am tired of seeing the same advertisements before I launch a game, whether it's on the Xbox 360 or the Xbox One. The fact that Xbox Live Gold Members have to pay an average of $60 per year to access the multiplayer components in games and to access apps is kind of lacklustre, especially due
è to the fact that Gold Members are subjected to advertisements on the Dashboard, in a majority of apps (YouTube, TrueAchievements' video walkthroughs, etc.).
While no other gaming platform or service in existence (Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Wii & WiiU, Steam, etc.) offers a subscription that removes advertisements for a monthly or yearly subscription, Xbox Live could be the first one to do so. But since the vast majority of people who play on Xbox 360 or Xbox One must purchase the Xbox Live Gold Membership to play most of their favorite games, I have the impression that Microsoft will simply disregard the users' views' on advertisements.

I agree, as a gold member, we shouldn't have to watch ads.
This is one I agree firmly. WE PAY so we don't have to deal with 3rd party advertisement. Difference between Radio and Subscription Satellite radio. If we are gonna be subjected to advertisements then Xbox live gold should be a FREE service since advertising is paying for the service.
Basically a lot of things Xbox has gotten away with for years due to less competing in market but things are advancing fast and other models have people asking "how come we are/have to.." Regarding how things are set up. Truth is advertising alone would cover Xbox live gold and what we pay use to be for service but has been continued and become more a 100% profit for Xbox. Compensating with a few games is not much but the option to not pay and get live service with no other benefits should be option if advertisers are paying to sell is products. Or services
does anyone know of a way to block the ads? it's unacceptable.
They make money from ads so they can't just remove them.

Remove all ads from the dashboard if you have Gold. There is no reason for them at all, and if the 360 is anything to go by, they will add more and more over time.

Gaming ads in the store, I'm fine with that. Gatorade ad in the dash, NO WAY!
A better request would be to have a "PLATINUM" membership where the price is higher but there are no ads.
I like the ads. They're all gaming ads, it's not like your seeing toyota and Heineke ads.
Ads is what makes money, to cut ads theyll have to raise prices
